The award was presented to Dyersburg by the Tennessee Aeronautics Division, the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for the 17th consecutive year. The award is given to airports ranking in the top one-third of general aviation airports in the state.
"You never get a second chance to make a first impression," said TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely in a recent press release. "And our airports are often the front doors to our communities for visitors and business representatives. I'm pleased to honor these airports for their commitment to quality."
The award is presented to airports based on the following criteria:
* The general appearance of the airfield, buildings and grounds
* The quality of services offered to passengers, aircraft and crews
* The availability and quality of information about the airport and the surrounding community
* The cleanliness and level of maintenance of areas used by the passengers, aircrew and airport visitors
* The courtesy and professionalism displayed by airport personnel and the overall impression of community pride and commitment to quality.
The Dyersburg airport has received The Front Door Award consecutively since 1992. The facility is currently without management. The city chose to end its contract with Dyersburg Air Service in June.
