Trimble city board OKs $2 hike on utility bills

Sunday, September 27, 2009
During this month's Trimble Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting David Norsworthy, Trimble city administrator, asked the board to table approving new building permit fees until more research could be done on prices. The board unanimously passed the motion to table it until October's meeting.

The board also voted to table the vote for accepting a bid of $1,094 by West Tennessee Communications to update the tornado siren.

Trimble Fire Chief John Gill attended the meeting and presented an itemized expense sheet to the board with details of maintaining the volunteer fire department. Gill asked the board to approve an additional $2 per month charge on residents' utility bills to go toward funding the fire department. Alderman Steven Parker made the motion to approve the $2 charge and it passed by a unanimous decision.

Finally, Norsworthy presented three bids to the board for chemically treating water well No. 2. Campbell Well Drilling Inc. presented a bid of $4,750; Parker and Jackson Inc. presented a bid of $1,500 and Layne-Central gave a bid of $7,800.

Norsworthy recommended accepting Campbell Well Drilling's bid of $4,750 if it is still a valid quote. Alderman Matt Stafford made the motion to accept the bid and it passed unanimously.

I heard that the fire chief of Trimble doesn't have a driver's license. If this is true, why doesn't the board address this problem?

And by the way, what happened to Chief Donna Faulkner?
