Elon Allen Anderson, 66, of Dyersburg, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at his residence.
He was a dozer operator for Cliffco.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Sorrells Chapel Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Kathryn Anderson of Dyersburg; two sons, Tony Anderson and Kenneth Anderson, both of Dyersburg; a sister, Martha Ables of Dyersburg; three brothers, Jerry Anderson, Johnny Anderson and Ronnie Anderson, all of Dyersburg; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ables.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Ables, Rob Rogers, Rick Smith, Keith Ables, Jimmy Ables and Jimmy Stanford.
Harry J. Cobb Sr., 91, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 26 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired farmer and equipment dealer, a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church, former alderman and vice mayor of Newbern, member of Dyer County Election Commission, Newbern Rotary Club, VFW, Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree, DCHS Booster Club Hall of Fame and retired First Sergeant in Tennessee National Guard for 27 years, a Navy veteran of World War II serving eight years in the Navy Seabees.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gus Lohrum officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Skipper Cobb and James T. "Bubba" Cobb, both of Dyersburg and Lexie Cobb of Batesville, Miss.; a sister, Ona Cobb of Dyersburg; a brother, Lexie L. Cobb Jr. of Memphis; six grandchildren, Christy McDonald, Tommy Cobb, Ty Cobb, Jeremy Cobb, Heather Cobb and Brooke Cobb; and four great-grandchildren, Savannah Cobb, Kevin Cobb, Brock Cobb and Christen McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Cobb; his parents, Lex and Lizzie Cobb; and two brothers, James Cobb and Franklin Cobb.
Pallbearers will be members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Lura Jacobs, 90, of Halls, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 in Halls.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Halls Funeral Home with Chuck Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include three daughters, Lana Koonce of Murfreesboro and Betty Burks and Sue Nelson, both of Halls; two sons, Bobby Jacobs and Jackie Jacobs, both of Halls; a brother, Eugene Stutts of Dyersburg; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 11 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Jacobs; and a son, Thomas Jacobs.
Judith H. Russell, 77, of South Fulton, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at Haws Memorial Rehab & Nursing Facility.
She was an employee of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a member of First Baptist Church of Fulton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Ky. with Dr. Jack Acree officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Hornbeak.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Russell of Dyersburg and George Russell of Balad, Iraq; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Campbell Russell; her parents, Edgar and Eva Corum Hayes; two sisters; and six brothers.
