A wreck occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Friday, close to the Forked Deer River bridge on Highway 412.

A Crockett County woman was driving southbound on the highway when she lost control of her newer model Dodge Durango and went down an embankment. The vehicle stopped at the edge of the woods at the bottom of the hill.

Emergency responders from the Bonicord Fire Department, Dyersburg Regional Medical Center ambulance service and the Dyer County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.

After securing a cervical collar to the lady, the team placed her on a backboard and carried her up the hill to the awaiting ambulance.

She was the only occupant of the SUV and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

THP Trooper Bryan Avery said the driver was not seriously injured and was doing well while at the hospital.

She was charged with failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

And will someone PLEASE tell me why she was CHARGED for anything? Failure to maintain control! That's just stupid! This woman could have been killed and these idiots slap a lame a$$ charge on her like that! Must have been a slow week for the state patrol too. Idiots!

Oh wait! Getting near the end of the month! Quotas, you know!

Are you serious, Darth Sidious? Why was she charged? Because there was NO REASON for the crash! She "lost control", doesn't that tell you anything? You know like, maybe she can't drive, or she dropped her crack pipe, or joint. What if she had hit YOU head on, and caused serious injury or death to you, or yours? Should she have been charged then, or would that have just been all about the $$'s too?

when you have a 1 car accident, why do they need to give a ticket for anything, her insurance or out of pocket will have to be blamed for cost? bet if it was 2 cars involved there wouldnt be any ticket given for the police would have to say who was at fault, this is a joke on mankind.

Hello everyone, yes I was the driver of that accident. I have no idea why I blacked out but as I felt myself losing conciousness I got out of the left lane (so I wouldnt hit oncoming traffic) and did everything I could to get off the bridge so I could avoid any accident all together. I passed out completely just before I put the car in park and went down into the bottoms and hit the tree. I have no memory of it at all until some wonderful man (who was behind me in a vehicle)was banging on my window and called 911 for me. * a special thanks to him since I can not remember his name, he is my hero.

Why I have a ticket is completely bogus. I think you are right and it was the end of the month or something... no clue.

I was released from the hospital later after a ton of tests and am off to see a neurologist to hopefully figure out what happened. Thanks for all your support.

By the way I live in the Dyer County part of Friendship, not Crockett and the charge that was on the ticket is not the same as the one in the paper. I got a ticket for a different charge just as bogus (thank the Good Lord that I have a prepaid legal service that is going to fight it and I dont have to pay anything). It was something like failure to take proper care or worded close to that. I dont have the ticket in front of me to give you the exact wording.

Anyway, so that was the scoop and I am alive and kickin.. just sore as heck and feeling like I hit a tree...lol
