Trimble appoints new alderman to fill vacant position

Sunday, October 25, 2009
On Monday evening, a special called meeting of the Trimble Board of Mayor and Aldermen was held to fill a vacant position on the board. John Ivie was nominated to fill the seat of former alderman Jody Hinson who previously resigned because he and his family were moving outside of Trimble.

Aldermen had until Oct. 20 to nominate someone for the position or the decision would be left to Mayor James Davis.

Alderman Matt Stafford nominated Ivie for the position and alderman Raymond Ballard nominated Kay Faultner.

Aldermen Stafford, Steven Parker and Darlene Biggers voted in favor of Ivie's nomination with Ballard sticking to his nomination of Faultner.

Ivie will be sworn in sometime within the next week.

The board will also select a new vice mayor at their next meeting on Nov. 2 since Hinson held that distinction too.

Ivie ran in the 2008 election for Trimble alderman, but did not receive enough votes to secure the position.
