Cocaine sales bring 10-year prison sentence

In Dyer County Circuit Court on Sept. 15:

* Kendrick D. Akins, 18, 206 Pate St., pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated burglary, theft of property in excess of $1,000 and burglary of a motor vehicle.

He was accused of burglarizing a Dyersburg home April 1 and stealing a laptop computer, a game system, a handgun and assorted men's jewelry. He was sentenced to six years in prison on the burglary charge and four years in prison on the theft charge.

He also was accused of breaking into a woman's vehicle on April 2. For that, he was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $411 to the victim.

All of the sentences are to be served concurrently with each other and with a prior sentence.

* James Robert Chandler, 28, 3260 McCullough's Chapel Road, pleaded guilty to third offense driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Additional charges of third offense DUI and second offense driving with a revoked license were dismissed. He was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail followed by 11 months, 29 days of probation. He was fined $1,100 and his driver's license was revoked for three years.

* Tyrone "Mo" Houston, 37, 148 Baker St. in Gates, pleaded guilty to two counts of selling more than half a gram of cocaine. In each count, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $2,000. Both fines were suspended. Houston is to serve the sentences concurrently with each other and with a federal cocaine charge.

* Quenton Earl Ingram, 32, 201 Halls St. in Halls, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of simple possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail followed by 11 months and nine days of unsupervised probation. He was fined $250.

* Dana L. Trout, 38, address unavailable, was granted pretrial diversion on a charge of selling dihydorcodeinone, a Schedule III controlled substance. Trout was placed on supervised probation for two years and ordered to pay $869.50 in court costs, a $35 monthly supervision fee and $180 restitution to DCSO narcotics division. Trout also was ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol assessment.
