Mrs. Mary Helen Jones, 86, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Dyersburg Manor. She was a retired florist, a member of First United Methodist Church, a former Girl Scout leader and a former teacher at Mrs. Geron Brown's Kindergarten.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 Graveside at Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Cook officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 -- 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29th in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, T.J. Jones and wife Nita of Dyersburg, TN, 8 grandchildren, Brandtly Neal Jones, Mary Suzanna Kelly, Heather Redmond, Jennifer Redmond, Richard Redmond, Jack Jones, Jr., Nick Dycus and Stephen Dycus, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Neal Jones, 2 daughters, Mary Neal Naylor and Sandy Faye Redmond and 1 son, Jack Jones, and her parents, Tommy and Lyda Miller and 5 brothers and sisters.

Vernon Sharpe, 85, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at his residence.

He was a retired farmer, member of Glendale Church of Christ, held Pilgrim Degree of the Moose Lodge, past administrator of Dyersburg Moose Lodge and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Scherffius officiating. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Pierce of Newbern; a son, jerry Sharpe of Newbern; a sister, Winnie Holloway of Red Banks, Miss.; a brother, Robert 'Bobby' Sharpe; a grandchild, Trena Rodrigue; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rodrigue and Claire Rodrigue.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Carolyn Hufstedler Sharpe; his parents, Brown Sharpe and Eva Rush Sharpe; and two sisters, Glenda McCulloch and Marie Crenshaw.

Pallbearers will be Greg Campbell, Ronnie Crenshaw, Dustin Forrester, Jimmy Holloway, Mike McCulloch, Ethan Rodrigue and Marty Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Carter, Dyersburg Moose Lodge 411, John 'Pumpkin' Proud and Louis Ross.
