A man and woman are currently being held in the Dyer County jail on drug charges after a Monday evening search of a house with an active meth lab in it.

Regina Mai Jones, 30, 1428 Tatumville Road, Newbern, was arrested along with Justin Todd Moore, 29, 875 Wheeler Road, Alamo, after members of the Dyer County Sheriff's Department and Dyersburg Police Department did a search of the Newbern residence and discovered a meth lab.

Acting on information from the Dyersburg police that drug activity was possibly occurring at the residence, a sheriff's deputy went to the residence along with police at approximately 6:45 p.m. They knocked on the door and received permission to search the residence.

Inside the residence, the law enforcement officials discovered a meth lab and drugs.

Also inside the residence were three children, ages 14 months old, 5 years old and 10 years old.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Holt said Moore was at the residence purchasing drugs. After arresting the two adults, law enforcement officials contacted the Department of Children's Services and they took custody of the children.

A member of the Methamphetamine Task Force Clandestine Lab Response Team arrived and local law enforcement personnel inventoried the meth lab. An environmental cleanup crew was also summoned to the scene to dispose of the hazardous materials.

Jones is charged with manufacturing, delivery and sale of a controlled substance (Type M); possession of schedule VI (Type F) drugs; possession of drug paraphernalia (Type F) and failure to appear.

Moore is charged with simple possession (Type F); casual exchange (Type M); manufacturing, delivery and sale of a controlled substance (Type M); violation of check law (Type M) and possession of drug paraphernalia (Type F).

Holt said there might be further charges due to the fact there were children in the residence with the meth lab.

Jones and Moore are scheduled to appear in Dyer County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Very Sad situation for the children.

Even worse the children will probably be returned sooner or later to the same mother possibly in the same setting.

What seems to be even sadder is this woman is back out on the streets....she had an active meth lab going with three small children inhaling this deadly drug......and she clearly looks like she needs help..why is she back on the streets?

It is sad that any parent would choose meth over their children. The man did and he will regret it one day. When he stops blaming everyone else but himself
