The Dyersburg Police Department charged two Newbern men this week in connection with a number of storage facility burglaries.

Dyersburg police have been investigating storage facility burglaries at the Dyersburg Mini Storage located at 410 Hwy. 51 Bypass, and A-1 Mini Storage located at 855 Jenkinsville-Jamestown Road.

On Monday, Oct. 26, the A-1 Mini Storage owner was checking his property when he observed a suspicious person in a car on his lot. The owner called police and the police determined that the man identified as Christopher Hayes, 22, 482 Forrester Road, Newbern, was in possession of stolen items. The next day police arrested Jason Stewart, 33, McManis St., Newbern, with burglary.

Investigators have recovered a large number of items stolen from both storage facilities and are still searching for additional items stolen. The stolen items range from small and large electronics, jewelry and tools. Investigators are asking individuals who have property stored at storage facilities to check on their property and notify the police if any items are missing.

Investigators have a number of unclaimed properties and are asking for individuals who have property missing to contact Investigator Dan Wilson at 288-7668 or Investigator Thomas Langford at 288-7638. They have determined that a number of stolen items have been sold and if you have purchased any property from Stewart and Hayes, you are urged to contact the police.
