* Joe Dustin Thomas, 22, 5513 Lenox Nauvoo Road, pleaded guilty Sept. 22 to a reduced charge of simple possession of marijuana. He had been charged with marijuana manufacturing when law enforcement officers found 15 marijuana plants growing in his closet in March.
Thomas was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in jail, with the sentence suspended immediately. He was placed on probation for the same time period. He also was fined $250.
* Jeffery Jermain Ross, 21, address unavailable, was convicted Aug. 19 on a reduced charge of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. He had been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly using a knife to hurt Bryant Keith Thomas Jr. on July 4, 2006. Ross was sentenced Sept. 21 to a year in prison, but the sentence was suspended to six months in jail followed by six months of probation.
* Paul Montell Isom, 23, 365 Wabash Circle, pleaded guilty Sept. 17 to two counts of possessing more than half a gram of cocaine with intent to sell. A related charge of possessing more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell was dismissed.
On the first cocaine charge, Isom was accused of possessing about 102 grams of crack cocaine. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined $3,000. The prison term is to be served concurrently with three prior sentences.
On the second cocaine charge, Isom was accused of holding 13 grams of cocaine but was free on bond for the first drug charge at the time. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined $2,000. He is to serve the 12-year sentenced consecutively to the other sentences.
