Teen accused of burglary sent to DCS

Friday, November 6, 2009
A 16-year-old Dyersburg boy accused of burglarizing the Plaza Food Center was committed Wednesday to the Department of Children's Services.

The teen-ager and two 18-year-olds were arrested Sept. 3 after allegedly throwing a brick through the grocery store window on South Main Street. A trail of bloody footprints led to the boy's apartment. He received cuts to both of his legs and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 16-year-old appeared in Dyer County Juvenile Court on Wednesday.

Charges against the adults are still pending. Zachary Collins, 1175 S. Main St., is scheduled to appear in Dyersburg Municipal Court on Nov. 13. Jordan Smith, 216 Tennyson St., waived his right to a preliminary hearing in city court on Sept. 18 and is now awaiting an indictment.
