Wilbern Leon "Squeekie" Evans, 79, of Newbern, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at his residence.

He was a member of Newbern First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran and an avid golfer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Klutts officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Linda M. Brinn Evans; a daughter, Vicki Farley of Jackson; two sisters, Jo Nelle Johnson of Newbern and Tommie Christine Puckett of Cottage Grove, Ill.; four brothers, Billy Eugene "Speck" Evans, Jerry Lee Evans, Ronnie Joe Evans and William Robert Evans, all of Newbern; and two grandchildren, Anna Farley of Jackson and Brad Farley of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Carmack Evans and Annie Lee Ladd Evans; a sister, Annie Sue Murray; and two brothers, James Howard Evans and Cecil Edward Evans.

Pallbearers will be Larry Dunaway, Tony Evans, Brad Farley, John Mark Johnson, Clyde Kerr and Jim A. Roney. Honorary pallbearers will be Choc Buchannon, Larry Carter and Tom Foster.

Kathy Crenshaw Latham, 61, of Jackson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Tommye Lathan of Jackson.

Mr. Joe A. Underwood, 68, of Dyersburg, TN died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his residence. He was retired from Excel Polymers and a member of Living Church of God.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Mr. Rick Beam officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith (Judy) Underwood of Dyersburg, 1 daughter, Karen Underwood Smith and husband Michael of Huntsville, AL, 1 sister, Lurlene Luttrell of Gibson, TN, 2 brothers, Houston Underwood and Melvin Underwood of Newbern, TN and 1 grandson, Brad Smith of Huntsville, AL.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leon Underwood and Hubert Underwood and his parents, Fred and Lizzie Brashier Underwood.

Pallbearers will be Mike Underwood, Brent McBride, Rodney Underwood, Dwayne Luttrell, Thurman Robinson and Roger McBride.
