Donna Ables, 50, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at her residence.

She was a private sitter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors today from 5:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Wayne Ables of Dyersburg; a daughter, Tina Marie Rice of Dyersburg; three sons, Terry Lynn Sollis, Allen Wayne Ables II and Eric Justin Ables, all of Dyersburg; two sisters, Joann Cooper and Diane Hansford, both of Dyersburg; a brother, Howard Wayne Cooper of Dyersburg; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ludie Cooper; and a brother, Billy Cooper.

Pallbearers will be Jon Beavers, Brian Rickert, Tony Rice, Robert "Peanut" Richardson, Steven Daniels and Shannon Gage.


Ruth Balentine, 86, of Friendship, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at her residence.

She was a retired nurse's aide from Crockett County Nursing Home and a member of Friendship Church of Christ.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Friendship Funeral Home with Dan Clevenger and the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The widow of Gene Balentine, survivors include two sons, Herbert E. Balentine (Betty) of Dyersburg and Larry W. Balentine (Shirry) of Friendship; three sisters, Gladys T. Martin of Friendship, Katie L. Houston (James) of Olive Branch, Miss., and Dorothy T. Cox (Andy) of Dyersburg; three brothers, Robert H. Thompson of Lakeland, Fla., Walter M. Thompson and Percy G. Thompson (Mary Lou), all of Friendship; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry Thompson, Martin Thompson, Richard Thompson, Paul Thompson, Andy Cox Jr., Danny Wyrick, Percy Thompson and Mike Thompson.


Virginia Cook, 78, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at her residence.

She was a sales clerk for DeLoach Shoes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny W. Baker of Dyersburg, William C. Baker of Caruthersville, Mo., and CW5 James P. Cook of South Korea; a sister, Lois Hampton of Dyersburg; seven grandchildren, Brandy McCollum and April Dodds, both of Newbern, Autumn Houchens of Dyersburg, Danielle Reynolds of Smithville, Clint Cook, Haley Cook and Sarah Cook, all of South Korea; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Jackson and Flora Ann Vestal Taylor; two sisters, Alline Fortner and Wilma Hortence Rogers; and two brothers, W.J. Taylor and Phillip Taylor.

Pallbearers will be Johnny W. Baker, William C. Baker, CW5 James P. Cook, John David McCollum, Aubrey Leake and George Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Whitlow, Terry Morgan, Timmy Vestal, Terry Vestal, Jamie Vestal, Ray Vestal, Lanny Joe Vestal and Wayne Vestal.

William Roland Green, 84, of Dyersburg died Friday, November 6, 2009 at his residence.

Roland was born Saturday, September 5, 1925 in Dyersburg to William Chester and Allene Pewett Green. He had one sister, Jeanette Boatright, who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Dyersburg and a retired security guard at Dyersburg Fabrics.

The Green family will receive visitors from 12 until 2 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Curry Funeral Home. Graveside services for Mr. Green will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, in Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Ryan Boatright officiating.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, T.E. "Pete" Boatright of Dyersburg; his niece, Laura Ann Maroney and husband Sid of Sequim, WA; nephews Mike Boatright and wife Pat of Jackson, Randy Boatright and wife Becky of Dyersburg, and Tommy Boatright and wife Gina of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Chester and Allene Green and his sister, Jeanette Boatright.

Funeral services for Kathy Crenshaw Latham, 61, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2009 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Maurice Hays and Rev. Tony Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mrs. Latham died on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her Jackson residence.

Kathy was born in Dyersburg, TN on May 25, 1948, the daughter of Betty Crenshaw and the late Billy Joe Crenshaw. She was employed as a teacher with the Jackson Madison County Schools. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church of Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Tommye Latham of Jackson, TN; two daughters, Robin Pinkston and husband Earl and their children, Kathryn, Thomas and Nathan of Malta, Europe and Laura Perryman and husband Michael and their children, Carter and Eliza of Chattanooga, TN; a son, Andrew Latham and wife Jenni and their children Matthew and Abbie of Murfreesboro, TN; her mother Betty Crenshaw of Newbern, TN; four brothers, Randall Crenshaw and wife Vicki of Newbern, TN, Tommy Crenshaw and wife Connie of Windsor, WI, Mark Crenshaw and wife Janet of Pontotoc, MS and Joe Crenshaw and wife Jan Marie of Des Moines, IA.

Pallbearers to serve will be Charles Bell, Jerry Blackwell, Jack Colwick, Stan Cotner, Terry Dyer and Pete Lawrence

The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Gideon's International, 2313 Technology Center Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.


Linda Long, 56, of Finley, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at her sister's residence in Dyersburg.

She was a homemaker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Chessor officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Lindell Long of Finley; a daughter, Crystal Long of Finley; a stepdaughter, Tammy Long of Kennett, Mo.; two sons, David Long and wife, Jennifer, of Lenox, and Steven Long of Finley; four sisters, Barbara Streiler and Patricia Hudson, both of Dyersburg, Judith Long of Obion and Teresa Larose of Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Velma Bryant; a stepson, Terry Long; a sister, Brenda Hendrix; and a brother, Paul Bryant.

Pallbearers will be Ty Hicks, Victor Walton, Corey Lewellyng, Scott Sipes, Craig Sipes and Mike Lemons.
