County meetings slated Monday, Thursday

Saturday, November 7, 2009
Several county governmental meetings are planned this week.

The Dyer County Commission is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the upstairs courtroom in the Dyer County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include appointments to two library boards and a petition to add Bird Lane to the county road list. The transportation committee voted last month to restore about 500 feet of the road to the list of roads maintained by the county. At one time, the road (then known as Mitchell Road) was maintained by the county.

The commission will consider appointing Joe Emery to the McIver's Grant Public Library Board and Sylvia Palmer to the Forked Deer Regional Library Board.

The commission's Alcohol and Beverage Committee is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, also in the upstairs courtroom. Mike Pilkenton is seeking a permit to sell beer on and off the premises of Bogota Grocery on Highway 78 in Bogota.

The commission's Budget Committee is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the lower-level conference room of the courthouse. The committee expects to review the latest revenue report and discuss budget hearings for next year. The committee will also review any budget amendments that will be considered by the full commission that night.

On Thursday, the Dyer County Regional Planning Commission plans to meet at 3:30 p.m. in the planning and zoning office on Pioneer Road. Items on the agenda include a discussion of a proposed zoning amendment on billboard placement and the proposed reopening of Mitchell Road (to be called Bird Lane).
