Thursday, November 12, 2009
A "Reason for the Season Food Drive" is under way for the Salvation Army and Matthew 25:40 in Dyer County.

Persons may take canned goods and supplies to any First Citizens National Bank location or to Newbern Grammar School, Dyersburg Primary School, Dyersburg Intermediate School, Dyersburg Middle School, Fifth Consolidated School and Three Oaks Middle School.

The food drive ends Dec. 14.

Canned fruits, vegetables, juice, soup, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, shampoo, toothpaste and soap will be accepted.

The class collecting the most items in each school will win a Little Caesars Pizza/Burks Beverage Pepsi Party on Dec. 16. The winning school will receive a Ja Ja's Ice Cream Social from Green Frog Coffee Company in January.

The food drive is sponsored by First Citizens, Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, Jewelry Jungle and Burks Broadcasting.
