The Three Oaks basketball programs hosted county rival Northview on Thursday in a set of contests, which the home squad would like to remember.

The Lady Eagles (1-2) erased a 14-10 halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Mustangs 26-25 on a clutch jumper by Madeline Petty, which ended a two-year losing streak for the Three Oaks girls program, while the Eagles pounded the Mustangs 53-33.

"I think we are going to turn over a new leaf as a program," said Lady Eagles head coach Catie Embrey. "As a coach, I'm very proud of these girls; they believed and we were able to hit a big shot at the end."

The Lady Mustangs trailed nearly the entire game, but their defense in the fourth quarter allowed Three Oaks to pull away with a much-needed victory.

Petty led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 10 points on the night, while Lady Mustang Ali Evans added eight points for the Northview squad.

Savannah Adkins added six off the bench for Three Oaks, while Chelsie Spence scored six points as well for Northview.

In the boys contest, the talented Three Oaks (2-1) bunch started fast and ended even faster on their way to a 53-33 win over the Mustangs.

"It's a win and I'm happy about that, but I know we can play a lot better than we did tonight," said Eagles head coach A.J. Adams. "Northview has a good team, and I told them that it wasn't going to be an easy game."

Eagle Brandon Cruise led all scoring on the evening with 18 points, while teammate Christian Halterman added 13 points and Josh Taylor contributed eight points in the win.

Ten different Eagles scored in the win, something that illustrates the depth and skill level of Three Oaks.

Mustang Dylan Parker led Northview in scoring with 10 points on the night, but the lack of support around him allowed the Eagles to cruise to an easy victory.

Northview was able to cut the Eagle lead to 13 points late in the third quarter, but Three Oaks quickly regrouped and outscored the Mustangs 11-6 in the fourth quarter, which sealed the victory.

Three Oaks will return to action on Monday when the Eagles welcome Humboldt to town for a quick matchup while the Mustangs will travel to Lake County for a tough matchup with the Falcons.
