Arvel Ray Davis, 79, of Newbern, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was co-owner of Tri-County Farmers Equipment, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a member and deacon of Fairview Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnnie Welch and the Rev. Clint Veal officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Rice Davis of Newbern; a daughter, Deshion Crawford of Villa Rica, Ga.; a son, Ray Davis of Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister, Bonnie Morris of Dickinson, Texas; six grandchildren, Chris Davis of Newbern, Todd Weatherly, Lauren Weatherly and David Weatherly, all of Villa Rica, Ga., Alison Davis and Parker Davis, both of Jonesboro, Ark.; and a great-grandchild, Kane Weatherly of Villa Rica, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Johnny and Edna Belle Motley Davis; a sister, Mildred Deshion Davis; and two brothers, Lonnie Davis and William Jay "Bill" Davis.
Pallbearers will be Lynn McDonald, Rad Crenshaw, Chris Davis, James Hendrix, Bart Hendrix and Johnny Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Weatherly, Alison Davis, Lauren Weatherly, David Weatherly, Parker Davis and Kane Weatherly.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Fairview Baptist Church, c/o Mrs. Rad Crenshaw, 6182 Tatumville Road, Newbern, TN 38059.
