Man sentenced to prison on drug charge

Wednesday, November 18, 2009
A Dyer County man was sentenced to 51 months in a federal prison for possessing more than 5 grams of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Nicholas Haymon pleaded guilty Aug. 19 and was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson. Three additional charges of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute were dismissed. The charges all stem from incidents in October 2008, according to the indictment.

After serving his prison term, Haymon will be placed on supervised release for four years. He was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the court.
