The 35th annual Community Christmas Card allows residents to wish local friends a Merry Christmas without addressing envelopes. But better still, it provides an opportunity for residents to help support the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission, a ministry that is hard at work all year long.
The project, sponsored by the Union Mission Auxiliary, supports the work of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission's many ministries, including its after-school youth programs, New Life Youth Camp and Community Café.
Union Mission Auxiliary member Beverly Green has participated in the Community Christmas Card program since it was sponsored by the Northwest Tennessee Academy of Medicine Auxiliary. She was instrumental in the Union Mission Auxiliary taking over the program seven years ago when the Medical Auxiliary disbanded.
"People really do put this in their giving," said Green. "Instead of sending out Christmas Cards, (they use that money to support the Mission)."
Green said donations are also made in honor or memory of a loved one.
Contributions to the Community Christmas Card will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec.16.
Donations may be made for any amount and are tax deductible. The card will be printed in the Sunday, Dec. 20 edition of the State Gazette. Names in the ad will appear as they do on the check, unless stated otherwise.
To participate in the Community Christmas Card, simply mail a check made out to the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission to Beverly Green, 801 Acadian Blvd., Dyersburg, TN 38024.
Those interested in more information may contact Green at 285-6402.
