Maxine Hilliard, 86, of Dyersburg died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Highlands of Dyersburg.
One of seven siblings, Maxine was born Friday, June 22, 1923 in Mississippi to Andrew and Effie White Harrington. She moved to Dyersburg in 1939 where she established her home and raised her children.
She was a person who loved the outdoors, especially gardening. She was blessed with the ability to raise beautiful indoor potted plants that filled her home with beauty and her heart with joy.
While growing up, Maxine attended the Holiness Church in each of the communities where she lived.
Graveside services for Mrs. Hilliard will be conducted by Brother Mac Daniels Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, TN.
She is survived by four daughters: Betty Smith of Newbern, Sue Ray, Brenda Lumley and Pam Taylor all of Dyersburg; four sons: James Harrington of Finley, TN, Eddie Pierce of Evansville, TN, Clarence Pierce and Jimmy Hilliard of Dyersburg; three sisters: Sue Morgan, Ruby Petty, and Betty Harrington all of Dyersburg; and, a brother, George Harrington of Arkansas. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Hilliard; her parents: Andrew and Effie White Harrington; and, two brothers: Andrew Harrington and S.R. Harrington.
