Mary Evelyn Hendrix Clifton, 76, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, December 5. She was a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, and resided previously in Pensacola, Florida, and Dyersburg.
Celebration services were planned at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday, December 8, at 11:00 am, preceded at 10:00 by a time of family visitation. A graveside service was held at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, on Thursday, December 10, at 10:00 am. These services were conducted by Rev. Steve Clifton. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements locally.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Steve and Laurie Clifton, of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bert Stevens, of Lebanon, Tennessee, 5 grandchildren (Caleb Clifton, Hollie Stevens, Sarah Clifton, Eva Stevens, and Abigail Stevens), two step sisters, Dorothy Myers of Long Beach, California, and Martha Guy of El Segundo, California, her former husband, Woody (Marilyn) Clifton of Dyersburg, and a host of other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. E. C. and Ada Hendrix, her step Mother, Eva Hendrix, her brother, Calvin Hendrix, and three sisters, Rachel Peyton, Inez Thompson and Idell Johnson.
