Chester E. Butcher, 84, of Dyersburg, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at Oakwood Community Living Center.
He was a body shop owner of Butch's Body Shop and a retired employee of the Department of Corrections in Lake County and a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with Mr. R.M. Palmer officiating.
The family will receive visitors at 9 a.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Meeks and husband, Bud, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Ron Butcher and wife, Shirley, and Tommy Butcher and wife, Judy, all of Dyersburg; two sisters, Darlene Bulstrode of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Ester Hargrove of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Brad Butcher, Nick Butcher, Jason Meeks, Ashlee Butcher and Katie Richardson; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Butcher, Blake Butcher and Conner Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Butler; and his parents, Harley and Annie Davison Butcher.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Lowery, David Lowery, Ted Lowery, Ron Butcher, Tommy Butcher and Brian Lindsey.
The family request that any memorials be directed to Parr Avenue Church of Christ.
Janet Marie Higdon, 47 after a long illness of lupus, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, December 17. She was a resident of Troy.
Memorial Services will be at the Greater Vision Ministries of Troy on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 3 pm.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth (Shiggy) Higdon of Troy and a daughter Misty (Bobby) Brewer of Trimble; two stepsons, Brandon Higdon of U S Army stationed in Iraq and Christopher Higdon of Memphis; three grandchildren, Dru Phelps, Skyler Brewer and Chloe Higdon; a sister, Leslie (Javed) Jameel of Florida; and a brother, Douglas Butler of Va.
She was preceded in death by parents, Gayle Dunn and Alden Brooks and a son, Jackson Daller, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be directed to the Greater Vision Ministries of Troy, Bethel Baptist Church of Yorkville or to the Lupus foundation.
Ms. Betty Joan Moore, 69, of Caseyville, IL, formerly of Tatumville, TN passed away on December 21, 2009.
She was a 1958 graduate of Trimble High School, Trimble, TN. She was a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. She had lived and worked in Memphis, TN with the Memphis Police Department. She began her career there as a Meter Maid. She excelled in her work and at the time of her retirement she had achieved the rank of Captain, being the first female Captain in the history of the Memphis Police Department.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., graveside at Fairview Cemetery with Mr. Bill Teague officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Margaret Moore of Tatumville, TN; a brother, Bobby Moore of Dyersburg; another brother, Joel Moore of Memphis, TN and a sister, Wanda Murphy of Memphis, TN, a nephew, Bobby Joe Welch.
She is survived by three sisters, Grace Wiseman of Memphis, Margaret (Teenie) Ellis of Oakland, TN and Glenda Whaley of Collierville, TN and one brother, Mark Moore of Brandon, MS. She also leaves nieces, Christy Ellis, Amanda Moore, Rhonda and Sabrina Murphy; and nephews, Jeff Moore, Keith Moore, Jimmy Welch, Kevin Ellis and Adam Moore.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Memphis Humane Society.
