Looking to build off of the momentum of a big district win over Milan on Friday, the Lady Trojans traveled to Brownsville on Tuesday looking to avenge an early-season loss to the Lady Tomcats at DHS.

Unfortunately for Dyersburg, the inability to take care of the basketball down the stretch doomed the squad's hopes of a victory. The Lady Trojans committed 19 turnovers in the final period and 30 for the game, allowing Haywood County to earn the season sweep with a 50-45 win.

K.K. Tate was the only Lady Trojan finishing in double figures with 20 points after connecting on 6-of-24 from the field. Tate ended the game with a double-double after grabbing 15 rebounds as well.

Lauren Evans had eight, Madison Butler and Amber Mosley chipped in with six apiece, Rudy Wesley had four and Jaleya Mosley added a free throw as Dyersburg fell to 4-6 in district play and 9-10 overall.

Dyersburg jumped out to an early 10-2 lead over the Lady Tomcats only to see the lead diminish in the final five minutes of the period. Haywood County closed out the period on a 10-3 run to trail at the end of the quarter by one, 13-12.

The two squads battled throughout the second period before the Lady Tomcats scored near the buzzer to take a 22-20 lead at the half.

In the second half, Dyersburg failed to take advantage of golden opportunities in both the third and fourth quarter,

In the final period with a minute to play and trailing by six, 46-40, Butler drained a 3-pointer before Wesley scored to cut the deficit to one, 46-45. Unfortunately for Dyersburg, the back-to-back baskets would be the final two of the game as Haywood held on to win, 50-46.

The Lady Trojans will have to heal quickly as state-ranked Westview pays a visit to DHS on Friday for Homecoming. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
