| Firemen with the Dyersburg City Fire Department responded to this structure fire on Monday, Feb. 22. Both units in the duplex were damaged with heavy smoke, with one receiving fire damage as well. One person was transported to the hospital in a non-emergency status. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined by DFD officials. |
The Dyersburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 917 Tucker St., in Dyersburg, at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22.
Units arrived on the scene to find a one-story duplex apartment building well involved with heavy smoke and flames showing. Fire crews pulled hose lines to the structure, then proceeded to the interior of the first unit and quickly extinguished the fire.
Other engines at the scene hooked to a nearby hydrant and supplied water to the first engine company.

Unit A of the duplex received heavy fire and smoke damage, while Unit B was damaged by heavy smoke.
DFD officials conducted primary and secondary searches to assure all occupants were out safely. One person from the home was taken by a Dyersburg Regional EMS ambulance that was staged at the fire scene. The patient was considered non-emergency. No other injuries were reported.
Fire crews left the scene shortly after 1 p.m.
Fire Inspector Mark Sykes said the fire cause has not yet been determined at press time.
