The mother, however, still faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in Dyer County Circuit Court. Amanda Kay Walters, 29, of Jackson, is expected to go on trial April 7.
Charges against Ronald Keith Walters, 44, of Jackson, were not prosecuted on Dec. 8.
The Walters family lived in Dyersburg in 2005 when their son, Konnor Walters was taken to the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center emergency room. He had suffered a blunt force trauma to the head. The boy died at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis.
In previous court hearings, family friends testified that Konnor Walters had a "special problem." Konnor hit his head whenever things didn't go his way, the friend said.
The Walters case was one of several considered in circuit court on Dec. 7-8. Others include:
* Daniel Shawn Clark, 34, 1621 Harris St., who pleaded guilty to especially aggravated robbery. He was accused of entering a man's home, striking him on the head with a brick and stealing his money, jewelry, bank card and checkbook. The victim was taken to The Regional Medical Center in Memphis for treatment.
Clark was sentenced to 15 years in prison and classified as a "violent offender" who must serve his entire sentence.
* Mark A. Curry, address unavailable, who was declared a habitual motor vehicle offender. He had been charged with his ninth offense of driving with a revoked license and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
* Brian L. Fisk, 25, address unavailable, who pleaded guilty to selling a Schedule III controlled substance, selling more than half an ounce of marijuana and selling a counterfeit controlled substance. He was placed on judicial diversion for two years and was ordered to pay $190 restitution to the Newbern Police Department.
* Charles Timothy Goforth, 32, 449 Jeff Webb Road in Ripley, who pleaded guilty to violating the motor vehicle habitual offender act. He was sentenced to six years in prison as a persistent offender, which means he must serve at least 45 percent of his sentence before being considered for parole.
* Marshall Harris, 40, 308 N. Monroe in Newbern, who pleaded guilty to selling a counterfeit controlled substance. He was sentenced to a year in prison.
* Angela Holder, 36, 807 Central, and Charlene Clinton, 35, 201 Liberty Ave., who were found guilty of burglarizing T-Styles on Dec. 17, 2008.
Holder was sentenced to two years in prison.
Clinton was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by two years and nine months in a community corrections program.
* Larry D. Holland Jr., whose address is listed both as 1430 Shelby Drive and as 301 Butterworth, who was not prosecuted on charges of burglary of a motor vehicle and theft of property in excess of $1,000.
* Kenny J. Johnson, 27, 2876 Highway 88, who pleaded guilty to possessing more than half a gram of cocaine. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and will serve that time concurrently with a sentence from Lauderdale County Circuit Court. He also was fined $3,000.
* Donnie Wayne Lee, 33, 213 Poplar St. in Finley, who pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery. He was accused of taking $140 from an employee of The Learning House and $400 from Q-Mart, both on Sept. 29. Additional charges of burglary, theft of property in excess of $1,000 and failure to appear were dismissed. Lee was sentenced to 10 years on each count and will serve those sentences concurrently with each other and consecutively with all prior sentences and parole revocations.
* Brian Allen Loyd, 34, 513 Lake Road, who pleaded guilty to burglary, theft of property in excess of $1,000 and forgery. Three additional charges of forgery and one count of simple possession of cocaine were dismissed.
On the burglary and theft charges, Loyd was accused of breaking into West Dyersburg Church of Christ on Highway 51 Bypass and stealing two televisions and a video cassette recorder on Aug. 25. He was sentenced to three years in prison for each charge and will serve those sentences concurrently with each other. He also was ordered to pay $1,600 restitution to the church.
On the forgery charge, he was accused of forging checks on the account of his employer, Curtis Construction Co. of Dyersburg. He was sentenced to two years in prison and will serve that sentence consecutively to the two sentences above. He also was ordered to pay $2,136.67 restitution to his employer.

I Hope that this boy has not been abused, but i have seen small children slam their heads when they don't get their way..Usually, it's on a sofa or bed, but you have to really monitor them when they get upset, they eventually grow out of it, but at 2 yrs old, he doesn't know any better......not siding with anybody on this one
Daniel Shawn CLARKE,never needs to get out 15 is not justice for this ole man he beat!
I am a friend of the Walters and when I lived in Tennessee I stayed with them a good amount of time. Both Ronald and Amanda are very good and loving parents. They did not believe in whipping their children, how the state came up with the idea that they murdered their child is just down right obnoxious. Konner had severe developmental problems just to say the least. He would bang his head on anything, not just a bed or couch, I am talking about the floor, the wall, and anything else. I have known quiet a few children who did this and the parents hands are tied. They do not know what to do in a situation like this. No matter what a professional says you can do, many times it does not work. In this case it did NOT!PLEASE leave these people alone and let them live their lives, they are good people and the state just wants to try and use them because they have had problems in the past with DCS. They should also consider those records, never one time were they in the home for physical abuse. I have six children also, and it is hard to keep my home in order. All I have to say is: LEAVE THE WALTERS ALONE and find those who have really commited crimes.
I'm with you Ibelievenhim, I have been around the Walters also. What I do not understand is why everyone is now pointing their fingers at Amanda. Why were the charges dropped against Ronnie? They should also be dropped against Amanda. Let us all leave the judging to our Father in Heaven. Neither you nor I can say what happened that dreadful night, so let's just leave it alone. Amanda loves her six children dearly, and she misses Konner very much, as she does her other five children. She neither neglected nor abused any of her children. All of this caused her to lose her Dad from a massive heart attack and then her Mom died from grieve of losing her grandchild, her husband, and all the things that her daughter has had to go through. Hasn't she been through enough? Mr. Bobby paid to make sure his son did not have to go through this garbage, but Amanda has no one to depend on and no one with enough money to pay her way out. In saying this, I am not saying that either are guilty, but what I am saying is MONEY TALKS and BS walks. Amanda I am here for you ALWAYS!!! I am your friend til the end. Hang in there girl, because God knows YOU ARE INNOCENT!!! I Love You with All My Heart.
I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A REPLY TO GOD IS THE JUDGE'S COMMENT- IT IS TRUE AMANDA LOST BOTH HER PARENTS BUT SHE DID HAVE A FAMILY THAT STOOD BY HER AND THAT WAS THE WALTERS FAMILY- WE WAS THERE ON VISITATION DAYS TO SEE HER. WE SAW THAT SHE GOT WHAT SHE NEEDED WHILE SHE WAS THERE AND IT WAS RONALD'S DAD THAT GOT HER OUT ON BOND AND CONTINUES TO HELP HER TODAY- SHE MAY BE A FRIEND OF AMANDA'S BUT SHE DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT THE ACTUAL TRUTH IS--
MR.BOBBY, HAS SPENT HIS MONEY ON BOTH,AMANDA AND RONNIE, THROUGH THIS. AMANDA HAS NOT BEEN SLIGHTED IN ANY WAY BY RONNIE'S PARENT'S IN THIS SITUATION. I SUGGEST IF A PERSON DOES NOT KNOW THE WALTERS OR ANYTHING ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION TO KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF.
BY THE WAY, WHEN RONNIE SWORE UNDER OATH THAT HE COULD NOT AFFORD A LAWYER HE DID NOT TELL A LIE. DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO COULD AFFORD TO PAY A LAWYER WITH AN INCOME OF $600 A MONTH?
THE QUESTION WAS ASKED WHY WAS RONNIE STILL GETTING A SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK. THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE. RONNIE HAS NOT BEEN CONVICTED OF ANY CHARGE.
TO GOD IS JUDGE, YOU ARE SUCH A GOOD AND FAITHFUL FRIEND OF AMANDA'S AND WILL BE BY HER SIDE ALWAYS HOW ABOUT REIMBURSING MR.BOBBY AMANDA'S BAIL MONEY AND OTHER EXPENSES HE HAS PAID FOR HER.I'M SURE IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
TO GOD IS JUDGE, YOU NEED TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND. I READ YOUR COMMENT FROM APRIL 13,2009.YOU STATED IN THE COMMENT THAT MR.BOBBY HAD THE RIGHT TO SPEND HIS MONEY TO HELP RONNIE AND AMANDA.
ACCORDING TO THE ABOVE COMMENT YOU NOW THINK MR. BOBBY DID NOT HELP AMANDA.
PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING.
MR. BOBBY ,AS YOU CALL HIM, HAS ALWAYS HELPED AMANDA JUST LIKE HE HAS RONNIE.
Never one time did I say that Bobby and Gladys did not help Amanda. They are very good and decent people. I know they have probably spent all their retirement money on both Ronnie and Amanda. What I am saying is, why now, that the charges have been dropped against Ronnie everyone is pointing fingers saying Amanda did it. Amanda may not have been the world's cleanest person but in saying this, that does NOT mean she murdered her child. In response to why I do not pay the Walters back, I myself am poor, but believe me if I did have it I would give my last penny to help both Ronnie and Amanda. I love both of them dearly, both of them are loving and caring parents, I have seen them interact with their children and NEVER one time have I ever seen either do one thing to hurt them. Mr. Bobby, Ms. Gladys if I have said anything to disrespect either of you I am truly sorry, please accept my apology. I know that both of you have always been there for Ronnie and Amanda and the children also. What I meant was Amanda no longer has any of her own family to be there for her, she has lost a child,a dad, and now a mother. PLEASE let's all PRAY that she doesn't lose her life by going to prison for something she DID NOT do. I love all of you very, very much, I just feel Amanda needs love and support from all those who claim to be her friends.I will remain a friend til the end!!!!!
