On Thursday at Dyersburg High School, Levi Estes signed a scholarship to continue his education as well as football career at Bethel College in McKenzie.

Estes, the son of Lance and Darla Estes, played a pivotal role in the success of the Trojan football team during his four years of high school. Trojan head coach Bart Stowe believes the Wildcats are getting an outstanding young man as well as a solid athlete by signing Estes.

"Levi was a very versatile player for us. He played fullback, tight end and some defensive end for us later in the year. I think Levi will end up on the line somewhere at Bethel because he has the size and the strength to get the job done," said Stowe.

During his four years at DHS, Estes went through four coaching changes and continued to progress while learning the different styles of each coach. Stowe thinks all of the knowledge gained will benefit the newest Bethel signee once he gets to college.

"He was an excellent player for me in the one year I had him. He is a hardworking, passionate kid that really loves the game of football," added Stowe. "This is a stepping stone for Levi and he will take what he learned at Dyersburg with him to Bethel. The young man really wants to play college football and now he will have the opportunity to do that and I think he will do excellent."

A big player with soft hands and a feel for the football, with hard work and dedication Estes could shine in a Wildcat uniform for years to come.

"He is going to work hard, I guarantee you that. He comes from a football family that will be there to support him and today is a great day for not only Levi, but his entire family and I'm really proud for them," said Stowe.

The Wildcats are a member of the NAIA and compete in the Mid-South Athletic Conference.
