Archie Criswell, 75, of Finley, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his residence.

He worked for the Dyersburg Police Department for 44 years, where he retired as the Assistant Chief of Police, a member of Fraternal Order of Police, a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and an avid squirrel hunter.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Ballinger officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Brooks and husband, Billy Gene, of Dyersburg; a son, Jim Criswell and wife, Sandy, of Finley; a sister, Sharon Floyd of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Billy Charles "Buddy" Criswell of Van Buren, Arkansas and Sam Criswell of Samburg, TN; five grandchildren, Ben Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Amanda Brooks, Byron Criswell and Michelle Criswell Yarbro; and a great-grandchild, Lennon Grace Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Criswell; his parents, Charles T. and Edna Bane Criswell; and a sister, Loma Kendall.

Pallbearers will be David Criswell, Gary Criswell, Richie Tidwell, Robby Tidwell, Charles Vaughn and Larry Waller. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Williamson, Greg Youree and Ted Ennis.


Jean (Reaves) O'Bryan, 79, of Homestead St., Sudbury and formerly of Dyersburg, TN. Died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Wayside Hospice in Wayland, MA.

She was born in Dyersburg, TN, daughter of the late Marvin and Dallas (Holland) Reaves.

She was the wife of Glenn O'Bryan now of Sudbury with their daughter Dorothy Robison and son-in-law Richard Robison.

Mrs. O'Bryan was a piano teacher and church organist for 40 years before retiring. She had moved to Sudbury from Tennessee in May of last year.

In addition to her husband, she leaves three daughters: Dorothy Robison of Sudbury, Ann O'Bryan of Indianapolis, IN and Carolyn Miller of Prattville, AL.; a sister Barbara Polk of Alexandria, LA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dyersburg, TN on Saturday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m.


Barbara Wright Rushing, 63, of Newbern, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.

She was a homemaker.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Murray "Rowdy" Rushing of Newbern; two daughters, Anna Newman (Rick) of Alamo, and Margaret Johnson of Newbern; a sister, Joyce Short of Hayti, Mo.; three half sisters, Sharon Hamil of Dyersburg, Melinda Prater of Jackson, and Janet Hunt; a brother, Larry Wright of Dyersburg; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Gail Latham; a brother, Robert Wright; a half brother, Moody Keith Wright; and her parents, Robert Moody and Gladys Adilen Johnson Wright.
