Freddy Ray Autry, 65, of Tiptonville, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

He was a Sergeant Correctional Officer with Northwest Correctional Facility and a member of The Assembly of God Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Rose and Kevin Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Wilson Autry of Tiptonville; six children, Cindy Dowland of Newbern, Teresa Webb of Finley, Kenny Ray Autry of Halls, Daniel Whitson of Tiptonville, Anthony Whitson of Hornbeak and Beth Scearce of Halls; one sister, Cloie Caviness of Newbern; four brothers, Gene Autry, Gerald Autry and Larry Autry, all of Newbern, and Darrell Autry of Shawtown; five grandchildren, Lynn Compton, Cody Compton, Amber Webb, Hannah Scearce and Garrett Gooch; and two great-grandchildren, Legend Compton and Chance Compton.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Caviness, Ricky Caviness, Randy Caviness, Bobby Dowland, Anthony Whitson, David Webb, Will Gunter and Jeremy Autry.


Ben Brashier, 73, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired Line Foreman with Colonial Rubber, where he worked for 26 years, a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ, a former member of Tennessee Army National Guard and a former member of the Woodmen of the World.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Bright officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cupples Brashier of Dyersburg; a daughter, Benita Brashier Jowers of Dyersburg; a son, Joel Brashier of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Jackie Capps, Michael Jowers and Bethany Brashier; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffani Lee and Kylee Grace Jowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Pope Brashier; a grandchild, Colton Brashier; two sisters, Doris Crumley and Evelyn Kimbrell; and two brothers, Wesley Brashier and James Brashier.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Cupples, Carmen Cupples, Chad Barron, Craig Barron, Mike French and Harvey Barrett.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.


Mark Crews, 27, of Dyersburg, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his residence due to a seizure.

He was a former Correctional Officer with Northwest Correctional Complex and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Halls.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Mr. Matt Stafford and Mr. Bill Boyers officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery in Bruceville.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Crews of Friendship; two sons, Elijah Crews of Dyersburg and Jacoby Crews of Friendship; his mother, Tina Crews of Friendship; his father, Allen Crews of Shelbyville; two sisters, Chasity McAlister and Tara Crews, both of Dyersburg; his grandparents, Janet Pleasant of Friendship, Wyman Reynolds of Memphis and Jerry and Joyce Johnson of Dyersburg; and a niece, Jaelon McAlister of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Isaiah Crews and his great-grandparents, Monroe and Nell Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Fowler, Josh Hicks, Michael Hicks, John Curtis Hicks, Steve Wyler, Mikey Jones, Cody Blalock and Pete McAlister.


Bernice Pettie Reed, 84, of Newbern, died Monday April 26, 2010.

She was a retired employee of Morris Manufacturing, was a member of Church Grove Baptist Church and was a volunteer for THE BASKET at Second Baptist Church in Dyersburg.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church Grove Baptist Church in Newbern with the Rev. Dan Holland, the Rev. George Butler and the Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, Mo.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home, and 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include a son, James Anthony "Tony" Reed and wife Cindy of Newbern; two brothers, Mack Pettie of Southaven, Mich. and Babe Pettie of Hayti, Mo.; a grandchild, Jackie Clutts and husband Joey of RoEllen; and a great-grandchild, Seaton Clutts of RoEllen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. "Josephine" Reed; a daughter, Melodie Ann Reed; her parents, Henry Lee and Stokie Self Pettie three sisters, Edna Newsom, Laverne Pettie and Barbara Pettie; and three brothers, Alvin Pettie, Alton Pettie and Baby Boy Pettie.

Pallbearers will be William McDonald, Bret McDonald, Don Martin, Chip Ditto, Joey Clutts and Vincent Younger.
