John "Larry" McWilliams, 69, of Halls, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
He was a farmer and property manager, director of Lauderdale County Bank and a member of First United Methodist Church of Halls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Halls First United Methodist Church with Bro. Bob Rose officiating. Burial will be in the family's cemetery in Halls. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca (Carson) McWilliams; three sons, Barry McWilliams, Monty McWilliams and Ricky McWilliams, all of Halls; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Fletcher and Demetra (Childress) McWilliams; and a brother, Joe Ike McWilliams.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
William J. Pfeufer, 75, of Troutman, NC, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 31, 1935, in St. Mary's, PA, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Catherine (Schwabenbauer) Pfeufer. He married Joan Eckert Pfeufer on July 27, 1957, who preceded him in death. He married Donna Garnett Pfeufer who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Linda, Mrs. Jay SoloRio, of Decatur, AL, and Susan, Mrs. Robert Bradley, of Statesville, NC; three sons, Jude (Kristi) Pfeufer, of Statesville, NC, Duncan Pfeufer, of Hopkinsville, KY, and David (Lisa) Pfeufer, of Troutman, NC; two grandsons, Aaron Bradley and Nathan Pfeufer; five granddaughters, Lexie and Rachel SoloRio, Katherine Pfeufer, and Emerson and Samantha Pfeufer; three sisters, Alice, Mrs. Joseph Lynch, of St. Mary's, PA, Joyce, Mrs. Joseph Kuhar, of Erie, PA, and Grace, Mrs. Al Patterson, of Buffalo, NY; three brothers, Tom (Pat) Pfeufer, Carl (Pat) Pfeufer, both of St. Mary's, PA, and Earl (Gaye) Pfeufer, of Littleton, CO; and by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pfeufer attended St. Mary's Parochial Schools, graduating from Central High in 1953. He served in Patton's 3rd Armored Division in Germany from 1954 -- 1955. Mr. Pfeufer was employed by Sylvania Electric Company (GTE) in St. Mary's, PA, Dyersburg, TN, Troutman, NC, and Montoursville, PA, before retiring to North Carolina in 1992.
He was a member of the Lions Club, Statesville Cruiser Club and life long member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Pfeufer enjoyed boating, fishing, dancing and car races.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC, on Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11 AM. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary's, PA, on Saturday, May 22, 2010. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 6 -- 6:30 PM, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, NC, followed by receiving of friends from 6:30 -- 8:30 PM.
