Within a couple of days, she said, T-shirts were available.
She said she thought Dyer County needed a T-shirt, and that the T-shirts would be a great way to help flood victims.
Profits from the shirt sales will go to the Dyer County American Red Cross Disaster Fund. Lynn Fritchey, executive director of the local Red Cross chapter, said the disaster fund is being used to assist Dyer County flood victims with food and clothing.
The white T-shirts bear an oval logo in black, white, orange and blue. The top half of the oval depicts tree silhouettes in front of an orange sky. The bottom half is blue water. The words - "We Survived Together: Flood 2010: Dyer County" - are written on the top, the center and the bottom of the logo.
Dyer County Commissioner Debbie Bradshaw Hart said many people want to help the flood victims but they don't know what to do. This is one thing that will definitely help, she said.
The T-shirts cost $15 each and are available at the American Red Cross office, 326 S. Mill Ave.; Lupo's Italian Steakhouse, 2320 Amanda Ave.; and the Eye Care Group, 400 Highway 51 Bypass. Shirts may also be ordered by calling Cole Shelton at Security Bank: 288-7355.
Checks may be made payable to Dyer County ARC; please write "Disaster Fund" on the memo line.
