Mrs. Margaret Pate Finley, 93, passed away on June 23, 2010 at Sanders Nursing home in Gloucester, Virginia. A native of Dyersburg, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Hugh O. Finley also of Dyersburg who died in 2003. Famous for her devotion to genealogy, she leaves a legacy of family information to current and future generations of the Finleys, Pates, Nortons, Fowlkes, Woods, Archers and many other families going back to the first families of Tennessee.

Mrs. Finley is survived by her son David of Hayes, VA, granddaughters Mary of Culpeper, VA, and Catherine of Accord NY and great grandchildren Gabriel and Dorothy of Culpeper, VA.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 13, 2010 Graveside at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg officiated by Dr. David Russell. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Finley family requests memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church Discretionary Fund, PO Box 452, Dyersburg, TN 38025-0452.

Mrs. Nancy C. Gunnels, 59, of Newbern, TN died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and a former employee of Quebecor World-mailing department.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Alexander and Pastor Danny Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Gunnels family will receive visitors Saturday evening, July 10th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

She leaves her husband, Ronnie Gunnels, daughter Melissa McCaine, three granddaughters, Krystle Leggett, Brittany Butler, Angela McCaine and one great grandson Ethan Leggett. She also leaves her parents, Hubert and Hazel Alexander and brothers Vernon Alexander and wife, Virginia, David Alexander and wife Sherry, Milton Alexander, William Alexander, Mark Alexander and sisters Shelia Walker and husband Danny, Sharon Davidson and husband Claudie. She was preceded in death by one brother Paul Alexander.

Pallbearers will be Scott Gunnels, Justin Gunnels, Josh Gunnels, Brent Davidson, Tim Davidson and Justin Alexander.

Mr. Alton Gaylon Pease, 68, of Dyersburg died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence. He was retired as a master tool & die engineer, attended Holy Hills Baptist Church and a member of Mason Grand Lodge of Mississippi #0617. He was a master gardener and chef and avid outdoorsman.

Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Hallum officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Pease family will receive visitors Saturday evening from 5:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Shauna Bledsoe and husband Chris of Enville, TN and Sherri Pease of Dyersburg, TN, 3 sons, Tony Pease and Danny Pease both of Dyersburg, and Joey Pease of Memphis, TN, his companion of 12 years, Sherrian Guinn of Dyersburg, TN, 3 sisters, Ramona Demcshak of San Antonio, TX, Peggy Sanders of Chattanooga, TN and Katie Kemz of Syracuse, NY, 2 brothers Larry Pease of Collierville, TN and Griffin Pease of Orlando, FL, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews and very special friends, Rev. & Mrs. Richard Hallum.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Delia Davis Pease and 6 brothers and sisters, Dorothy Fowlkes, Mary Studdard, L.V. Pease, Clyde Pease, William Pease and Austin Pease.

Pallbearers will be Blake Bledsoe, Landon Fell, Vince Younger, Tony Pease, Billy Pease, Larry Vernon Pease, Benny Prather, Anthony Burns, Kenny Pease and Richard Hallum, Jr.

The grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

Ocie Bush West, 83, of Dyersburg, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired assembly operator for Sylvania, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a former active member of Hawthorne Baptist Church, a retired associate of K-Mart and an avid Doll and Clown Collector.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Greenlee officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Osborne and husband, Jerry, of Dyersburg and Phyllis Keenum and husband, Travis, of Cordova; two sons, Dennis West and Gene West and wife, Judy, all of Dyersburg; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Powell West, Jr.; and her parents, John and Della Bass Bush.

Pallbearers will be David Osborne, Johnny Fulcher, Devon Keenum, Jerrod Smith, Reggie Smith, C.J. Ledbetter, Josh Ciaramitaro and Shane Fitzwater.


Doris June Woodside, 71, of Alamo, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at her residence.

She was a retired employee of Heckethorn Manufacturing and a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Friendship Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy McElyea officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Woodside of Friendship; three daughters, Donna Williams and Cheryl Woodside, both of Friendship, and Starr Chestoski of Johnston City, Ill.; a son, David Woodside of Friendship; her mother, Katie Harber of Tigrett; a sister, Polly Casey of Tigrett; a brother, John Wayne Harber of Algonquin, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Amber Williams and Brea Chestoski.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnie N. Harber.
