Dorothy Lavern Hastings, 82, of Estero, Fla., formerly of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010 at her residence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg.

The family will receive visitors today at 5-8 p.m. at Johnson -Williams Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Johnson -Williams Funeral Home in Newbern with David Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Cox and husband, Kevin, of Estero, Fla.; three sisters, Lela Hood and husband, Clyde, of Dyer, Doris Walton and husband, Bruce and Geneva Walton and husband, Don, all of Lenox; four brothers, Robert White and wife, Connie, of Newbern, James White of Nashville, Edgar White of Dyersburg and Harold White of Caruthersville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Dr. Wendy Cherry of Agoura Hills, Calif., Shawn Simpson and wife, Misty, and Penney Hensley and husband, Michael, all of New Johnsonville. Kevin Cox Jr., DVM and wife Molly, DVM of Columbus, Ohio, Ryan Cox of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Jeremy Cox of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Paula Hensley of New Johnsonville and Dakota Simpson of Dyersburg; and two great great-grandchildren Cane Burdette of New Johnsonville and Josie Grace Cox of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Orbon Miller and Jack Hastings; a daughter Evelyn Kay Miller; her parents, Edgar and Lester White, two sisters Louise Stanford and Gertrude Aden; and two brothers, Samuel White and T.C. White.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Violet Marie McManus, 69, of Halls, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Halls Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Trent Eric McManus officiating. Burial will be in Pierce Cemetery in Trimble.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Lloyd Wendell McManus Jr. of Halls; a daughter, Cheri Dawn Swing and husband, Gary, of Hendersonville; two sons, Craig Alan McManus and wife, Beth, of Union City and Bro. Trent Eric McManus and wife, Christy, of Halls; a sister, Rita Tuck of Union City; and nine grandchildren, Jessica Omohundro, Amanda McManus, Josh McManus, Larkin Austin, Gideon McManus, Faith McManus, Daisy McManus, Silas McManus and Isabella Swing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine Violent McAllister Batts and Ollie James Batts.

Pallbearers will be Craig Alan McManus, Bro. Trent Eric McManus, Jonathan McFarland, Bryan Omohundro, Scott Meeks and Wayne Hilliard.

Mr. Elmore English O'Banion Sr., 83, of Dyersburg, TN, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Dyersburg Manor. He was a novelty salesman and a Methodist.

Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 21, 2010 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The O'Banion family will receive visitors Saturday morning from 9:00 am until service time. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillie Mae Frizzell O'Banion, 5 daughters, Teresa Glass and husband Ronnie of Dyersburg, Sharon Eason of Jackson, TN, Denise Barrett and husband Frank of Laurel, MS, Deedra Hendry and husband Robby of SoSo, MS, Tina Ward of Clearwater, FL and 1 son, Elmore English O'Banion, Jr. and wife Barbara of Collierville, TN, 1 sister, LaVonne Napier of Kentucky, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Zachery Scott Ward, 1 sister, Elaine Hines, 1 brother Howard Loy O'Banion and his parents Howard and Laura Loy O'Banion.

Pallbearers will be Brad Hendry, Matt Hendry, Jeremy Hendry, Jeff Barrett, Greg Barrett, John Buxton Gulley, Robby Hendry and Ronnie Glass.

Mildred Louise Burrus Sharp, 86, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at her son's residence in Memphis.

She was the former owner of Tiptonville Laundromat and member of Crocketts Chapel United Methodist Church. She graduated from Tiptonville High School in 1942 and married Jack Sharp of Hornbeak in 1947. She served her country as a Navy wife for 14 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crocketts Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Survivors include a son, Donald Sharp of Memphis; and two grandchildren, Jackson Hunter Sharp and Anna Catherine Sharp, both of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jack Sharp; and her parents, Lewis and Isa Lee Ferguson Burrus.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
