Firefighters responded to a call of the fire at the factory, located at 150 South Connell St., around 3:58 p.m.
DFD Capt. Keith Burns said the fire was from a mixer that had allegedly ignited when an employee opened it. The firefighters turned the sprinkler system off and extinguished the flames. Fire got into some of the ductwork and it had to be dismantled to prevent it from spreading. Burns was not able to say how much damage the fire caused.
He stated that none of the employees were injured, but one firefighter was hurt when he slipped down several stairs with an air-pack on. That firefighter is expected to be back on the job on Thursday. Fire crews were able to clear the scene by 7 p.m.
