Thomas Allen, 78, of Ridgely, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired employee of the U.S. Corps of Engineers where he served as a construction inspector, was a U.S. Army veteran, worked for the Ridgely Police Department for 17 years and served as 1st lieutenant for the Ridgely Fire Department, was a charter member of Company D 105 3rd Division Combat Engineers where he held the position of sergeant, was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church and was a Scout in Ridgely Troop 36.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely with the Rev. Don Layman officiating. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda "Bucky" Allen and Rhonda Hutcheson, both of Ridgely; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Markham of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Robert L. Mumford and Christy Mumford Woodard, both of Ripley, and Michael "Shane" Hutcheson of Ridgely; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Katherine Allen; his parents, Ivor Lafant and Ola Mae Taylor Allen; and a sister, Charlene Ray Allen.

Nettie Baggett Berg, 79, of Kenton, formerly of Miston, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Miston Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home in Dyersburg with the Rev. Carmon Dennison officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

Survivors include a daughter, Dale Sanderson of Kenton; three sons, Glenn Baggett and wife, Linda, of Halls, and Rickey Baggett and wife, Charlotte, and Danny Baggett and wife, Sherry, all of Miston; a sister, Martha Fox of Kenton; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Narthul Baggett and Jack Berg; and her parents, Othor "Pinky" and Eula Clark Goodman.

Pallbearers will be Greg Sanderson, Brad Sanderson, Rickey Baggett, Mark Baggett, Harry Casagrande and Tommy Reed.


Rubye Jewell Castleman, 90, of Newbern, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at The Highlands of Dyersburg.

She was a retired employee of All-Wear and a member of Main Street Church of Christ.

Graveside services were Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern with the Rev. John Poor officiating. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Danny Castleman and wife, Tammy, of Newbern; a sister, Gladys Harrison of Mishawake, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jessica Puckett and husband, Phil, and Jessie Castleman and wife, Rosa, all of Newbern; and a great-grandchild, Carlee Castleman of Newbern.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Richard Castleman; her parents, Noble and Mallie Rose Ladd; one sister and seven brothers.

Letha Langley Dodds, 89, of Newbern, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Gibson County General Hospital.

She was a homemaker, retired bookkeeper for Newbern Hardware, a former employee of the Dyersburg Army Air Base and was a contributor to the museum located presently at the old Army base.

Services were Saturday at Main Street Church of Christ in Newbern, where she was a member, with Bro. Sean T. Sullivan officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Johnie S. Dodds of Newbern; two sons, John S. Dodds and wife, Glenda, and Stephen P. Dodds and wife, Peggy, all of Newbern; two sisters, Rhovean Rinella of Dyersburg and Nevilla Rogers of RoEllen; four grandchildren, John William Dodds and wife, Ronda, and Dr. Brandon Dodds and wife, April, all of Newbern, Cecily O'Bryant and husband, Scott, of Glendora, Calif., and David Dodds and wife, Torrie, of RoEllen; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were David Dodds, Dr. Brandon Dodds, John William Dodds, Van Wylie, James Paul Medling and Alton Dodds Bradford. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Willis and Frank Pierce.

Edward F. Lampert, 85, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

He was retired from the military where he served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, was a retired civil service employee and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a greeter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Tom Burgner and the Rev. Lynn King officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Penrod Lampert of Dyersburg; a daughter, Connie Ladd and husband, Barry, of Newbern; three stepsons, Jeff Griffin of Newbern, Mike Griffin and wife, Rebecca, of Petersburg, Va., and Douglas Griffin and wife, Angie, of Carrollton, Ga.; four grandchildren, David Ladd and wife, Holly, of Rainbow City, Ala., Jason Ladd and wife, Anessa, of Newbern, Tim Ladd, and Lindsey Spain and husband, Rod, all of Dyersburg; six step-grandchildren, Matthew Griffin of Petersburg, Va, David Griffin of Chester, Va., Amy Matherly of Richmond, Va., J. W. Griffin of Newbern, Darlene Griffin and Alyssa Griffin, both of Carrollton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ladd and Jack Ladd, both of Newbern; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tina Lampert; his parents, Otto and Mary Lampert; and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jason Ladd, Tim Ladd, David Ladd, Rod Spain, Jeff Griffin, Mike Griffin and Douglas Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be O. V. Fowler and Ralph Morgan.

Mrs. Sarah Louise Parker, age 88, of Bogota, went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 10, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Bogota Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend John Wayne Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Parker family will receive visitors Sunday, December 12th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Survivors include four daughters, Nora Brimm and husband Ewell and Juanita Curtis and husband J.T., both of Dyersburg, Jan King of Bogota, Sharon Sparks and husband Bob of Newbern, two sons, William Earl (Babe) Parker and wife Barbara of Newbern, Larry Joe Parker and wife Vanice of Dyersburg, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William "Wick" Parker, a son Odell Parker, her parents John B. Short and Alberta Ward Blackley, a sister Betty Mann, a granddaughter, Debbie Brimm, a great-great granddaughter, Chloe Williams, a son-in-law, Clayton King and a daughter-in-law Donnie Parker.

Pallbearers will be Tony Brimm, Kenny Curtis, Rodney Curtis, Tracy King, Lynn Parker and Jason Williams.
