Kathryn Hurst, 98, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at Bruce Community Center in Dyersburg with Elder Earnest L. Washington officiating. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at 6 - 8 p.m. today at New Macedonia COGIC in Dyersburg.
Survivors in daughters: Debra Liggons, Toya (Golden) Howard, Rachelle Tipton, and Treni Tipton; Special daughters: Paula (David) Swick and Tisa Ferguson; Special sons. Patrick (Amy) Heckethorn, Mike (Rebecca) Heckethorn, and Chris (Kerrie) Heckethorn; and 12 Grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Alfred Johnson, Larry Finch, David Campbell, Tim Taylor, D. J. Hayes and Brandon Hill.
Nina Ann Middleton, age 88, passed away at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital on December 21, 2010. She was born January 2, 1922 in Newbern, Tennessee to Clemont Nuska "Nusky" and Adeline Pleasant Poor.
Following graduation from Newbern High School in 1939, Nina Ann attended nursing school, becoming a licensed practical nurse in the 1940's. She worked for many years at the old Dyersburg Hospital and it's replacement, the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She devoted her life to caring for others, often during their darkest hours.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Middleton; her two daughters Kitty Middleton and Suzanne Hogan; her grandson Steven Hogan; her brother Elgin Poor of Memphis; and her sisters Bea Poor of Newbern, Hazel Vensil of Dyersburg, and Evie Hulme of Newbern.
Left to cherish her memory are Nina Ann's sister Edith Robinson of Union City, plus many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2280 Parr Avenue, in Dyersburg.
Funeral services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23. Visitation with family will be from noon until 2:00 p.m., and with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Nina Ann's friends make a donation in her name to their favorite charity.

Dorothy M. Smith, 97, of Mayfield, KY., formerly of Dyersburg, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Mayfield, KY.
She was a retired accountant, member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg, Girl Scout Leader, member of the Garden Club and Bridge Club.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Blakeburn officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce M. Carroll of Mayfield, KY. and Dorothy Jane Bailey of Memphis; a son, William R. Smith III of Dyersburg; two brothers, Douglas E. Mallard of St. Petersburg, FL. and Rex Odell Mallard of Garden City, MI.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Smith; her parents, Jessie Lee and Jessie Pearl Curtis Mallard; and a sister, Ladye Muriel Spratlin.
Pallbearers will be Bill Smith, John Slifer, Tim Fast, Adam Fast, Perry Bailey and Troy Bailey.
The family requests that memorials may be directed to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
