Charles Eugene Ladd, 80, of Newbern, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Mr. Charles Miller and Mr. Mike Ladd officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 12 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include three sisters, Helen Ferraro of Racine, Wis., Betty Culver of Newbern and Louise Miller of Union City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal Alsup Ladd and William Alfred Ladd; and a brother, Robert Louis Ladd.

Pallbearer will be Bruce Culver, Jeff Ladd, Charles Funderburk, Jay Wilson, Larry Dunaway and Mike Ladd.

Lorene Melton, 86, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at The Highlands of Dyersburg Nursing Center.

She was a homemaker and a member of Lenox Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rehoboth Cemetery in RoEllen with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 12-1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Gifford of Walls, MS.; a son, Johnny Underwood of Tatumville; a brother, Delmus Owens of Lenox; two grandchildren, Darren Brown of Finley and Cathy Brown of Jackson; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Melton; her parents, Johnny and Lillie Johnson Owens; a sister, Lavon Zates; and four brothers, Earl Wesley Owens, James Owens, Melvin Owens and Lindy Owens.

Pallbearers will be Darren Brown, Ryan Brown, Jerry Hollingsworth, Danny Lee, Tracy Owens and Jacob Reeves.


Mr. Charles "Pogo" Stafford, 53, died Wednesday morning, December 22, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ (Hamer Road), a fisherman and employed with Colonial Rubber for 25 years.

Services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 26, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ (Hamer Road) with Pastor Jerry Stafford and Brother Mike Autry officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Stafford family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 am until service time Sunday at the church in the sanctuary.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Tabatha Stafford Welch and husband Kelly and Kelly Stafford Hall and husband Curtis both of Dyersburg, his father George "Jack" Stafford of Lenox, 1 sister Norma Bolin and husband Rick of Dyersburg, 2 brothers Jackie Stafford, Jerry Stafford and wife Kerri both of Lenox, 5 grandchildren, Jordan and Jeffrey Welch, Kalee Baggett, Victoria Shanklin, Spencer Shanklin and 6 nieces and nephews, Keaton Stafford, Shelby Stafford, Devin Bolin, Breana (BJ) Bolin, Jaclyn Stafford and Mary-Jean Stafford.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Betty Joyce Autry Stafford and 1 brother Terry Lynn Stafford.

Pallbearers will be Rick Bolin, Gary Permenter, Rance Permenter, Kenny Sykes, Marty Sykes and Richard Bradford.

Carl "Duke" Gaylor Sr., 73, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Cosmopolitan Funeral Services.
