Martha Evelyn Peevyhouse, 89, of Newbern, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she enjoyed the activities of the Church Members Club. She was a former member of the Edgewood Home Demonstration Club. Her hobby was quilting, and she was a member of the Edgewood Community Quilting Club.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Turner and the Rev. Paul Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Akers of Newbern; three sons, John Peevyhouse and wife, Viola, of Big Sandy, James Peevyhouse and wife, Doris, and Charles Earl Peevyhouse, all of Newbern; a brother, Horace Davidson of Dyer; a sister, Mary King of Millington; seven grandchildren, David Peevyhouse and wife, Cindy, of Breaux Bridge, La., Laura Mata of St. John, Kan., Tammy Fair and husband, Dwayne, Tina Ross and husband, Dennis, and Jennifer Rabalais, all of Newbern, Terry Peevyhouse of Trimble and Cody Ramey of Bonicord; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Peevyhouse; and three brothers, Robert Davidson, William Thomas Davidson, and Osborn Davidson.
Pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Thomas Webb, Anthony Ross, Bryan Lippard, Jeremy Fair, Jesse Smith and Nathaniel Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Peevyhouse, Allison Peevyhouse, Joe Peevyhouse, Wallace Sexton, Bill Berry and Jim Berry.
