Mary Dean Ledbetter Adkins, 89, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on January 10 at Canterbury Place in Dyersburg. Visitation will be 1:30 with services following at 2:30 Saturday, January 15, at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis with the Rev. Emily Matheny of Highland Heights United Methodist Church, Memphis, officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis.
Dean was born in Rives, TN, to Noah Lee and Emma Gaskins Ledbetter on April 28, 1921. She graduated from Central High School, Memphis. Dean married Fred Forrest Adkins on May 24, 194 1, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church. She retired from the Admissions Office at the University of Memphis. Dean was involved in East Memphis Garden Club, United Methodist Women, and Lions Club Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Fred Forrest Adkins, Jr. and brothers Norvell C. Ledbetter and Thomas C. Ledbetter.
Dean is survived by daughters, Mary Patricia Haggard (Mrs. Freddy M. Haggard) of Raleigh, NC, and Carol Adkins Miles of Dyersburg, TN; grandchildren Neal Andrew Haggard and his wife Alisa of Holly Springs, NC, Paul David Haggard and his wife Amanda of Murfreesboro, TN, Sarah Miles Foy and her husband Robert of Nashville, TN, and Samuel Forrest Miles of Smyrna, GA; and great-grandchildren Sydney Emeline Haggard and Reilly Forrest Haggard of Holly Springs, NC.
Vester "Tambo" Rose Jr., 91, of Dyer, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at Dyer Nursing Home.
He was a retired business owner, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rutherford and a US Army veteran serving in World War II and was a POW.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer. The family will receive visitors at 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Rose of Dyer; three daughters, Barbara Luther (Frank) and Charlotte Blakley (Larry), both of Dyersburg and Gwylia Upchurch of Kenton; a son, Kenneth McFarland (Raeleada) of Dyer; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Annie Rose; three sisters; and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be Rusty McFarland, Joel Upchurch, John David McCollum, Keith Horner, David McClanahan and Mark Bryan. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Blakley, Frank Luther, Zachary Luther, Lucas Garland, Keith Stallons and Jason Elmore.

Mr. Ray G. Zedlitz, age 72, of Dyersburg, TN died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a Vietnam Veteran, a member of Bellvue Baptist Church, retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Union City and the former owner of Three Star Muffler Company.
Services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Daniels officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, January 13 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ratliff Zedlitz of Dyersburg; three daughters, Lisa Gayl Fiedler of Steelton, Pa, Carol Denise Coots of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Tammy Green of Kenton, Tn; one son, Dwayne Sanders of Lawrenceburg, Tn; three sisters, Helen Jean Bradberry, Mary Jo Christenot, and Annie Monroy of Windyville, Mo.; two brothers, J. W. Zedlitz of Willow, Alaska and Richard Zedlitz of Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven Grandchildren.
Pallbearers are David Green, Dwayne Sanders, Kyle Norman, Drifter Vasser, Colter Vasser and Mike Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna McDaniel Zedlitz.
