Jerry Glen Denison, 78, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Obion, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles.

He was a retired barber, a member of Woodard's Chapel Church, a member of Troy Masonic Lodge, and a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. James Robert Gunner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors Monday at 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Dimple Dennison of Obion; a daughter, Nancy Smith of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Gary Dennison of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister, Carolyn Thompson of Newbern; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Euble and Mary Nancy Whitson Dennison; and a brother, Billie Joe Dennison.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Joshua Tucker, Gary Dennison, Jerry Dennison, Rick Willis and Bill Bard.

Guy B. Melton, 66, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired dispatcher for DTS in St. Louis, Mo., a communicant of Holy Angels Church, member of Knights of Columbus, and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and recipient of the Bronze Star.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Father Robert Stellini officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

The family will receive visitors today from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Doreen D. Temple Melton of Dyersburg; two daughters, Kimberley A. Hulme of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Pamela R. Hooper of Dyersburg; a son, Jeffrey A. Melton of Trimble; a sister, Carolyn D. Ketchum of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Clayton Hulme (Jackie) of Trenton, Bradlee Melton (Angela) and Megan Melton (Joshua), both of Dyersburg; and four grandchildren, Matthew Melton, Cayden Melton, Coralee Monroe and Adyson Monroe, all of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Horner Cupples; a sister, Brenda G. Campbell; and two brothers, Dennis R. Melton and Roger D. Melton.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Hulme, Bradlee Melton, Morgan Bateman, Anthony Ketchum, Tyler Seaton, Chris Holden, Jon Holden and Josh Monroe.

Mrs. Thelma Mae Sanders, 87, Dyersburg, TN died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Middle City Church of Jesus Christ.

Services were Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Brother Mack Daniels officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN. Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Vickie Lynn Reynolds and husband Wesley of Ridgely, Barbara Aubrey and husband Donnie and Willie Sue Murphy and husband Enoch, all of Dyersburg, 6 sons, Raymond Warner of Corney, AR, Jackie L. Sanders, Eugene Sanders and wife Heather and Tommy Sanders of Jennifer, all of Dyersburg, Bobby Sanders and wife Cheryl of Haynes City, FL and Jerry D. Sanders of Mississippi, 1 sister, Lovie Longcor of Gonzales, LA, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Sanders, 1 sister, AdaBell Doss, 2 brothers, Earl Rushing and James Rushing and her parents Ed Lee and Flora Mae Casey Rushing.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Reynolds, Jody Reynolds, Enoch Murphy, Jimmy Ward, Randy Conners and Lee Cole.

John W. "Dugan" Spraggins, 78, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his residence.

Born on January 27, 1932, John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, retired Landscaper and a love of all creatures. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and loved baseball. He always greeted you with a big smile and a "Hi Hon". He was giving and kind and loved life. He was a Christian who saw no bad in anyone and a man with no enemies.

A memorial service will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his dog Tiger Spraggins; his extended families, Skyline Heights Family, Robert Alford and the late Audrey Alford, Carla and James Robert Fair, Brittany Gammons and fiancée, Robert, Rhonda Stephens and husband, Randy, Karen Walley and husband, Tim, Tonya Covington, Wesley Burns and husband, Randy, Don Holland and wife, Betty, and Andy Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd and Sarah Reynolds Spraggins; a sister, Margaret S. Smith; a brother; and his beloved dog, Jake Spraggins.

All that knew and met him loved him.

Jesus said in Matthew 12 verse 35: A good man out of the good treasures of the heart bringeth forth good things.

He will be greatly missed and the things he brought most into our hearts was his gentle soul.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society.

Ruby Asbridge, 99, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at The Highlands of Dyersburg.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.


Raymond Bolden, 63, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Curry Funeral Home.


Roger Wayne Gourley, 48, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 18. 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

A private service will be held at a later date.
