Michael L. "Bear" Howerton, 55, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a sergeant at Northwest Tennessee Correctional Facility.
Cremation services are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Warner Howerton of Dyersburg; a daughter, Brandy Wideman of Dyersburg; a son, Carliss Howerton of Hohenwald; a stepdaughter, Mary Lynn Michels of Montrose, Ill; two stepsons, Thomas J. Warner and Raeford, NC and Timothy Warner of Mount Vernon, Ill.; a sister, Sara Ring of Trimble; three brothers, Curtis Howerton of Parsons, Dennis Howerton of Dyersburg and Carl Edward Howerton of Mississippi; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carliss Howerton and Willie S. Thomason Howerton.

Daniel M. Lewis, 81, of Friendship, TN went to be with the Lord, March 7, 2011.
He was retired from Dr. Pepper/Pepsi Bottling Co. of Dyersburg and was a member of Emmanuel Christian Fellowship in Friendship, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Bertha Mae Lewis of Unionville, a brother Wilburn Lewis (WW2 Veteran) of Unionville, three sisters, Gracie Coleman of Ind., Ruth Turner of Friendship, TN, Esther Gibson of Trenton, TN, and a son Daniel J. Lewis of Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Virginia Lewis, two sons Jason Lewis/Candy of Friendship and Brian Pace/Melissa of Bells, three daughters Sandra Wade and Deborah Webb/Gary of Friendship and Patricia Cook/Andy of Texas and one sister Mary Ann Lewis of Friendship. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. at Emmanuel Christian Fellowship in Friendship, and funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, with the Rev. Thomas Kendall officiating.
Clarence Henry Shell, age 70, and his wife, Sue Shell, age 68, of Ridgely died Friday, March 4, 2011 at their residence. They were members of Cottonwood Grove Baptist Church. Clarence was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 30 years. Sue was a retired secretary from Lindamood Planting Company in Tiptonville. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary February 24, 2011.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Cottonwood Grove Baptist Church in Ridgely with Reverend Houston Northcutt, Reverend Jerry Powell and Reverend Bill Oakley officiating. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, Glen Smith, Wade Smith, Cory Kennedy, Jackie Howell, Adam Santiago, Marty Jordan, Dolphus Jordan, Tim Bargery, Ben Jordan, Jason Boswell and Gary Canada, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be retired co-workers from Goodyear.
The Shell family will receive visitors from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 7th at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin Surratt and husband, Dwayne of Dyersburg, 4 sons, Paul Shell and wife, Melinda of Ridgely, Greg Shell and wife, Teresa of Dyersburg, Chucky Shell of Newbern and Scott Shell and wife, Shawna of Martin, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Sue is survived by a sister, Connie Boswell and husband, Wayne and a sister-in-law Wanda Bargery of Hornbeak.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Walker Delois Smith Shell. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Willard "Pete" and Annie Irene Williams Bargery, a sister, Shirley Canada and a brother, Willard Bargery.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Gale Russell Young, 79, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 P. M. at the South Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Spegal officiating with burial in the Bellevernon Cemetery.
Mr. Young died Sunday March 6, 2011 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Gibson County, TN son of the late Edgar Lee and Willie Tom Elkins Young and was a retired employee of the Dyer County Highway Department and life long farmer. He was also a member of the South Fork Baptist Church where served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Young, Friendship, TN, son William "Pinkie" Young, Friendship, TN, daughters Joan Poole (John), Friendship, Tn, Cindy Jones (Paul), Friendship, TN, one sister, Linda Shepherd, Dyersburg, TN, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd Poole, John Poole, Paul Jones, Russ Poole, Trae Cotton, Glenn Carman and Allen Gilliand.
Visitation will be at the Friendship Funeral Home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
