Joe G. Baker, 82, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Union City.
He was the retired owner of Joe G. Baker Oil Company, member of First United Methodist Church, Mason, former member of the Dyer County Election Commission, former member of the Planning Commission and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his daughter, Becky Bogle and husband, Joe Glenn, of Union City; two sons, Brad Baker and wife, Sandy, of Friendship and Bill Baker and wife, Gwen, of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Ashley Kelley and husband, Jared, of Decaturville, Todd Baker of Friendship, Tiffany Bogle of Union City, Landon Baker and Chloe Baker, both of Dyersburg; and a great-grandchild, Anna Claire Kelley of Decaturville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Baker, whom he was married to for 56 years; his parents, Joe Sr. and Mary Stitt Baker; a sister, Martha Jean Gravette; and a brother, Charles Mason Baker.
Pallbearers will be Tom Bell, Tom Bell II, Todd Baker, Jared Kelley Richard Baker and Chuck Baker.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission or to a charity of the donor's choice.
