Jesus Amador "Chuy" Gonzalez, 20, of Newbern, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was an employee of Sara Lee in Newbern.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Father Robert Stellini officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his parents, Anastacio and Maria D. Gonzalez of Newbern; a sister, Jazmin Gonzalez of Newbern; two brothers, Juan Delosreyes of Sullivan City, Texas and Omar Gonzalez of Newbern; and grandparents Omar and Alberta of Sullivan City, Texas and Maria Romano of Mexico.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Janet Teresa (Carlton) Thompson, 56, of Union City, died Aug. 11, 2011, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday in the old sanctuary of Union City First Baptist Church, with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating. Burial was in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. White-Ranson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Biloxi, Miss., daughter of the late Richard and Marlene (Taylor) Carlton. She married Larry Mace Thompson Jan. 28, 1982. He died Nov. 10, 1999. She had been a secretary at the former Dekalb Pfizer Corn Research Facility in Union City. She was a member of Union City First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristy Long of Union City; her son, Steve Cochran of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Audrey Long, David Long and Natalie Long, all of Union City, Emma Cochran, Katie Cochran, both of Dyersburg; two sisters, Sheila Carlton of Trenton and Sindi Veatch of Newbern; two brothers, Richard Carlton Jr. of College Park, Md., and John Carlton of Murfreesboro; and four nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Richard Carlton Jr., John Carlton, Shane Long, Wayne Morris, Anthony Hagan and Tony Veatch.

The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.


Brenda Joyce Bishop, 61, of Finley, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Troy Estes, 79, of Tiptonville, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at his residence.

David Allen Lane, 46, of Ripley, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at Lauderdale Community Hospital in Ripley.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Halls Funeral Home.


Girtie Powell, 90, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
