Christine Kelsey Evans, 66, of Newbern, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at her residence.

She was a homemaker and attended Dew Drop Independent Church.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeff McLean officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 3-5 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Wayne Evans of Newbern, and Tony Evans and wife Elisha of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Dottie Eaves of Obion; four grandchildren, Brandi Tubbs and Adam Kilburn, both of Tiptonville, and Thomas Evans and Dusty Evans, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Earnest Evans; a daughter, Glenda Carol Kilburn; her parents, George Daniel and Daisy Rainey Kelsey; two sisters, Rachel Brown and Mary Kimbell; and a brother, George Kelsey.

Pallbearers will be family friends.

Loyce Virginia King, 96, of Morrow, Ga., formerly of Dyersburg, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at Laurel Park Nursing Home in Stockbridge, Ga.

She was a homemaker and a 40-plus-year member of Phillips Street Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Alvin Chapman and Bro. Jeff Golson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 3-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Hargis of Morrow, Ga., Betty Manley of Stockbridge, Ga., and June Bonham of Millington; a son, Max King of Nashville; a sister, Maxine McCarter of Millington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Floyd King; a son, Alton B. King; and her parents, Monty B. and Callie Smith Oakley.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sharp, Michael Underwood, John Swinney, Tony Hart, Ronnie Hart and Jimmy McCarter.


William S. "Bill" Newsom, 92, of Newbern, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at his residence.

He was the former owner of Newbern Texaco and employee of the Dyer County Highway Department, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. James Combs and Bro. Scott Owens officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include three daughters, Sondra Chuba of Newbern, Carolyn Kennedy and husband Wallace of Newbern, and Jackie Newsome of Humboldt; two sons, Bill Newsome Jr. and wife Jane of Newbern, and Randy Newsome and wife Carmie of Dyersburg; two sisters, Martha Hancock and Geneva Gilliland, both of Dyersburg; a brother, David Newsom of Newbern; 10 grandchildren, Tammy Bolt, Tracye Newsome, Tommy Chuba, Vicki Belton, Lee Kennedy, Brooke Newsome, Casey Lindsey, Coby Green, Nick Newsome and Hunter Newsome; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozell Newsom; his parents, Charles Willie and Mozell Stover Newsom; three brothers, Jake Newsom, John Newsom and Dale "Bronco" Newsom; and grandchildren Todd Newsome and Rhonda Newsome.

Pallbearers will be Mike Boone, Jack Boone, Adam Kilzer, Ronnie Barham, Scotty Childress and Perry McQuarters. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Jones.

Mrs. Willie Sue Newsom, 98, of Dyersburg, TN died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Facility in Dyersburg.

Funeral services for Mrs. Newsom will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Ronnie Turner. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Visitation for Mrs. Newsom will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Gore of Rolling Fork, Ms.; four sons, Gene Newsom of Pocahontas, Tn., Rev. Gerald Newsom and Larry Newsom both of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Earl Newsom; her parents, James and Pearl Lee Davis; three sisters, Irene Brown, Helen Braithwaitt, and Floretta Chandler; one brother, Elwood Davis; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Will Brown, Mark Brown Jr., Logan Brown, Ray Brown, Dalton Ballinger, Spencer Via.

Ethel Ann Foster of Dyersburg, formerly Little Rock, Ark., passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Oakwood Manor in Dyersburg.
