Randall J. Harris, 54, of Halls, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at his residence in Halls, TN.

Born in Dyersburg, he was the son of the late Charles Alexander and the late Nelle Moore Harris Kendrick. Mr. Harris married Shea Lea Arwood Harris on May 28, 1976.

He was a Post Master of the city of Ripley, TN. He also served as a member of the QWLEI program for the USPS. He was a past State President of the Tennessee Rural Letter Carriers. Mr. Harris was also a co-owner of H&A Partners in Halls, along with Leo Arnold. Mr. Harris also served as a Town of Halls Alderman for 10 years, as well as a Mayor for 8 years.

Survived by his wife, Shea Lea Arwood Harris; one daughter, Lindsay (Eric) Harris Brooks of Dyersburg, TN and one son, Robert Harris of Halls, TN. Brother of two brothers, Roger Harris of Halls, TN and Mike Harris of Dyersburg, TN; and a granddaughter, Clara Brooks.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cloe' Nelle Sills.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorials be made to the following: International Retts Syndrome Foundation, National Alliance on Mental Illness, or the donor's choice.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. at Halls First United Methodist Church, Halls. Interment was in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Halls.


Mr. Billy Nathan Newsom Sr., 90, of Dyersburg, TN died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his home. He was owner of Billy Newsom Produce Company from 1946 - 1994. Mr. Newsom was a member of First United Methodist Church, a World War II Veteran serving from 1941 - 1945, a recipient of The Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star and earned the rank of Sergeant. He was an avid golfer, raised Appaloosa and Quarter horses. During a long and productive lifetime, he demonstrated in countless ways his dedication to the welfare of others and earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life and all ages. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2011 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Dr. David Russell and Clint Reed. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Judd Reed, Clint Reed, Logan Brooks, Nathan Newsom, Blake Newsom, James David Newsom, Loren Newsom, Hoyt Newsom, Clark Newsom and Chipper Williams.

The Newsom family will receive visitors Saturday, October 29th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Winifred Newsom, 3 daughters Jennifer Reed and husband Billy of Dyersburg, Bret Newsom Brooks and husband Phil of Martin, Lea Newsom Scott and husband Steve of Dyersburg, 2 sons, Bill Newsom, Jr. and wife Susan of Dyersburg, Jim Newsom and wife Marty of Dyersburg, 13 grandchildren, Judd Reed, Clint Reed, Logan Brooks, Nathan Newsom, Blake Newsom, James David Newsom, Loren Newsom, Hoyt Newsom, Clark Newsom and Chipper Williams, Carrie Hadley, Bridgette Hadley, Jennie Brooks and 6 great-grandchildren, Dixie Reed, Delta Reed, Macy Reed, Nathan Reed, Lilly Gregory and Branson Spence.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Watson Newsom, the mother of his 5 children and his parents Sollie Newsom and Carrie Newsom Clark.

The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of donor's choice.

Jerry Lynn Barlow, 69, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Curve Baptist Church near Ripley. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Robert (Little Bob) Haskin of Dyersburg died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Heritage Garden Nursing Center in Senath, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by H.H. Hudson Funeral Home in Dyersburg.
