Robert 'Bobby' Lynn Cox, 62, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at his residence.

He was a truck driver for Ozark Motor Lines and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Horry Dungan and Brian Nichols officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ritter Cox of Dyersburg; a daughter, Sherry Spain of Dyersburg; two sons, Robert "Robbie" Cox of Clarksville and Jeffrey Clark of Knoxville; four sisters, Charlotte Christopher of Olive Branch, Ill., Peggy Walk of Dyersburg, Theresa Barber of Hohenwald, and Cindy Ratliff of Martin; and five brothers, Lynn Henson of Hohenwald, Buddy McKee of Olive Branch, Ill., Wayne McKee of Collinsville, Ill., Mickey Pettie of Dyersburg, and Kenny Pettie of Yorkville; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burnest and Evelyn S. Hubbard Cox; his biological mother, Barbara Anderson Pettie; and a brother, Timothy Pettie.

Jo Ann Whitson-Hart-Ervin, 75, of Nashville, formerly of Newbern, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at Summit Hospital in Nashville.

She was a former employee of the state of Tennessee Department of Human Services, former employee of the state of Tennessee Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, former owner/broker of a real estate agency and co-owner of Hart's Cleaner-Green Village Branch. She was a former member of Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. George Butler officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Ervin of Nashville; two daughters, Carole Hart of Portland, Ore., and Rebecca Ann Thomas of North Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Winston Whitson of Kentucky Bend, Ky.; and grandchildren Joe Dustin Thomas of North Little Rock, Ark., Siena Rose Combs and Natalie Pearl Combs of Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Allen and Julia Dickson Magruder Whitson.

Joyce Ann Jones, 62, of Heloise, died Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Tate officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, John Henry Jones of Heloise; six daughters, Charlotte Ann Kimbrell of RoEllen, Tracy Grandberry of Dyersburg, Cheryl Jefferies of Jackson, Chris Garcia of Milan, Toni Wilson of Miami, FL and Jennifer Whitehead of Friendship; three sons, Wayne Jones of Olive Branch, MS, Henry R. Jones of Heloise and Edgar Jones of Lenox; four brothers, Joe Pratt of West Plains, MO, J.T. Pratt of Poplar Bluff, MO, Lucien Pratt, Jr. and Gary Pratt, both of Pocahontas, AR; twenty-one grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucien and Lorine Raglin Pratt.

Pallbearers will be Roger Hayes, Jr., Eric Hall, Arturo Garcia, Wesley Turnbo, Joel R. Woods and Loyl Thomas Gentry III.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the rescue squads of Dyer County, Lake County, Lauderdale County or Pemiscot County, MO.


Bobby F. Jonas, 73, of Obion, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at his residence.
