Services for Mrs. Dale Lovins, 87, will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Friendship Funeral Home with Rev. Guy. Merryman officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.

Mrs. Lovins, the widow of C. T. Lovins died Tuesday morning at the Arbor Place in Puryear, Tn. after a long illness. She was born in Dyer County, Tn. and lived here most of her life, moving to Henry County in 2005 to be near her son. Mrs. Lovins was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dyersburg and served as the secretary of the Women's Home Demonstration Club in Tennessee for several years. Mrs. Lovins was actively involved in many election campaigns in Dyer County and was a retired employee of Woolworth and Sylvania Manufacturing.

She is survived by one son Robert K. Lovins (Tina) Springville, Tn.; one sister, Lois Simpson, St. Louis, MO.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Carpenter (Collen), Heather Cryer; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers to serve will be Collen Carpenter, Jay Cryer and friends.

Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 23, 2011.


Mr. Delmer Eugene McNeil Jr., age 32, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at The Med in Memphis. He was a member of Three Oaks Chapel.

Delmer played baseball for Dyersburg High School from 1994-1998. In 1998 he was named Tennessee District Player of the year and First Team All-State. He played for the 1998 Memphis BFI Tigers. Delmer played for Jackson State Community College (1998-2000) and the University Tennessee-Martin (2000-2001). He coached the Full Count Falcons and Dyersburg Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a mentor to countless youth sharing his love of baseball and life with tireless energy and passion. He was the founder of Full Count Baseball Academy where he taught baseball and softball fundamentals of hitting, pitching and fielding. He was also a hitting device creator and inventor, always looking for ways to improve the game he loved better.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Three Oaks Chapel conducted by Reverend Bill Phipps. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Michael Alley, Todd Winchester, Jason Sullivan, Tristan Sipes, Floyd Halterman Jr. and Eddie Sims.

The McNeil family will receive visitors Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the church,

Survivors include his wife Hannah Wright McNeil, his son Delmer Eugene "Tripp" McNeil III, his parents Delmer Sr. and Anita McNeil, his sister Meagan Sipes and husband Tristan, all of Dyersburg, his brother Trey McNeil of Bowling Green, KY, his grandparents Gussie McNeil Marlow and husband Bob of Salem, IL, Larry and Helen Sullivan of Kinmundy, IL, Aunts and Uncles Keith McNeil and wife Tammy of Salem, IL, Lawain McNeil and wife Pam of Cincinnati, OH, Shannon McNeil and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon, IL, Rhonda Hanson and husband Mark of Centralia, IL, Nieces and Nephews, Christian Halterman, Claire Halterman, James Scott Halterman, John Houston Hollingsworth and Scarlett Hollingsworth.

He was preceded in death his grandfather, Delmer Roy McNeil.

The family requests memorials be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave.

Annie Lee Perdue, age 80 of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at her residence. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 725 Carter Lane, Dyersburg. Rev. Elbert Holliman, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at noon at New Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be held in the New Bethel Church Cemetery in Dyersburg. Pallbearers, family and friends.

Mr. Joel Devoid Russom, age 66, of Kenton, Tennessee, passed from this life on December 14, 2011, at Union City Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Russom were conducted on Friday, December 16, at Laneview Baptist Church of Kenton with Bro. Daryle Marcle officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery of Kenton. Karnes & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joel Russom was born August 15, 1945, in Hardeman County, Tennessee; the son of the late Paul Devoid and Mary Lou Foster Russom. Joel was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. He also worked as a car dealer.

Mr. Russom is survived by his spouse, Faye Stanfill Russom; three children, Karla Garner and spouse Allen, Edward Belew and spouse Kathy, Bett Jewell; seven grandchildren, Hannah Grace, Bryce, and Olivia Garner; Cassie Prestininzi and spouse Philip, Leah Yarbro, Brittney Belew, Heather Allen and spouse Will and five great-grandchildren, Hannah Prestininzi, Nevaeh, Nevaen, and Natalya Allen and Cooper Yarbro; and one sister, Junel Viniard and spouse Jimmy. Mr. Russom was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Belew Jr.; a grandchild, Adam Belew; and 2 brothers, Curtis and Leo Russom.
