Joe Paul Berkley, age 81, of Dyersburg, TN, died Monday, January 16, 2012, at Dyersburg Manor in Dyersburg, TN.

Funeral services for Mr. Berkley will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Danny Klutts. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Berkley was born on February 23, 1930 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the son of the late Walter Berkley and Julia Cagle Berkley. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Newbern First Baptist Church.

Mr. Berkley is survived by his wife Eloise Berkley of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sons, J. P. Berkley (Donna) of Jackson, Tennessee and Mark Berkley (Sandy) of Milan, Tennessee four daughters Lana Berkley Wood (Joe) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Sherri Berkley Teeter (Dean) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Lora Via (Jeff) of Newbern, Tennessee and Teresa Lamb (Mike) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Doris Permenter of Dyersburg, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Berkley was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Styers, and two brothers, Walter Berkley Jr. and Rex Berkley.

Pallbearers will be Berk Berkley, Zach Berkley, Ryan Wood, Gage Teeter, Cort Teeter and Ricky Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Wilks, Larry Dunaway, Jimmy Gatlin, Robert Epperson and Tommy Anderson.

Rose Onita Bevis, age 73, of Newbern, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 in Humboldt.

She was a retired business owner and tax preparer for Jackson-Hewlett .She was a member of Newbern First Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. today in Yorkville Cemetery in Yorkville with the Rev. James Elam officiating. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of the late Stanley Featherston and the late Edna Featherston.

Mrs. Bevis is survived by her husband, Edward Bevis of Newbern; three daughters, Julie Ann Baker and Cindy Lou McCann both of Humboldt and Linda Jo King of Newbern, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Sherry Ann Agee of Newbern, Tennessee; a son, William Earl Burton of Newbern; two step-sons, Michael B. Bevis and Bruce Edward Bevis both of Newbern; a sister, Betty Gail Anderson of Newbern; a brother, Ronnie Featherston of Newbern; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bevis was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Lee Stockton Bevis; her parents, Stanley and Edna Ashley Featherston; and one brother, Rev. J. D. Featherston.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Scott Hunt, Adam Featherston, David Featherston, Marty Taylor, Billy McCann and David Wells. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony McCann and Bruce Bevis.

A Celebration of Life for Darlene Jones McCall who passed away Friday will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 6:00 pm at her residence of 31 Morningstar Avenue, Ormond Beach, Fla.

Ms. McCall was born in Mayfield, Kentucky and moved to Florida 7 years ago from Tennessee. She previously lived in Tampa, Fla. for many years. She was a guidance counselor for Port Orange Elementary School and previously worked at Turie T Small Elementary School.

Survivors include a brother Larry Jones and his wife Debbie of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two nieces, one nephew, one great niece; three great nephews; and her two cats Grayson and Lilly. I

Melba Hendren Pope, age 76, of Trimble, TN, died Sunday, January 15, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pope will be 1:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Buck Carroll. Internment will follow in Pierce Cemetery in Trimble, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors Monday from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pope was born on February 13, 1935 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert Taylor Hendren and the late Matt Etta Spraggins Hendren. She was a homemaker and a member of the Trimble First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her husband of 58 years Bobby Lynn Pope of Trimble, Tennessee; two daughters, Stephany Sturdivant (Elvis) and Lorri Pope both of Trimble; three sons, Robert Pope (Debbie), Bruce Pope (Andrea) and Bryan Pope (Nancy) all of Trimble; two sisters, Tena Hendrie of Seattle, Wash. and Roslyn Baker of Doweltown; a brother, James T. "Doc" Hendren of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren: Angela Gordon (Jamie) of New Hope, Ala., Ben Sturdivant (Amanda) of Trimble, Beth Ann Pope of Newbern, Ross Pope of Trimble, Bryce Pope of Hendersonville, Nina White (Jason) of Jackson, Amy McIntosh (Brandon) of Dyersburg, and Justin Pope of Russellville, Ky.; three step-grandchildren; Allen Parker (Micki) of Russellville, Ark., Steven Parker (Jackie) of Trimble and John Fagan (Cindy) of Tiptonville; two great-grandchildren, Gannon Gordon of New Hope, Ala. and Walker Sturdivant of Trimble; nine step-great-grandchildren, Dylan Fagan and Jaxson Fagan, both of Dyersburg, Kristen Parker, Dylan Parker and Ashley Parker, all of Trimble, and Daniel Parker, Jace Parker, Raegan Parker and Landen Parker, all of Russellville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Yarbro; and a brother, Bobby Cooper Hendren.

Sue Elizabeth Coker Smith, age 84, of Newbern, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Ms. Smith was born on October 13, 1927 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late N. C. "Poly" Coker and Annie Myra Ketchum Coker.

She was a retired employee of LTV in Camden, Ark., a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church and served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Memorial services for Ms. Smith will be 11:00 AM Thursday at the Rehoboth United Methodist Church. Officiating this service will be Rev. Dan Tilly.

Survivors include four daughters, Debra Anne Gibbs of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Susan Cathleen Foos of Castle Rock, Colorado, Marilyn Dianne Smith of Colorado and Helena Lynne Stockman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four sons, Robert James Smith, Jr. of Oakland, California, Mertis Craig Smith of Colorado, Col. Randy Lee Smith who is serving in the United States Army and Ricky Allen Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five sisters, Dorothy Navin of Arlington, Texas, Peggy Peevyhouse and Myra Horner both o Dyer, Tennessee, Pattie Holt of Garland, Texas and Alice Teague of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three brothers, Bill Coker of Union City, Tennessee, Charlie Coker of Gleason, Tennessee and Jerry Coker of Hayti, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by one sister, Jennie Tucker and one brother, Alvin Coker.

Noble Glen "Junebug" Moore Jr., 62, died January 12, 2012, at his home in Memphis. Born in Mayfield, KY, August 28, 1949, he grew up in Dyersburg, TN. He was a graduate of Dyersburg High School, the University of Mississippi and General Motors Institute. Mr. Moore was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and had been an employee of his family business, Moore Motor Sales, and the University of Mississippi, and in his later years was a substance abuse counselor. He leaves a son, Blake H. Viar of Memphis. He was predeceased by his parents, Noble Glen Moore Sr. and Marcile Hall Moore, and his former wife, Virginia. Memorials may be sent to Catholic Charities of West Tennessee, Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission or Church Health Center.


Debbie Hilliard Danelz, 58, of Germantown, formerly of Halls, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at Halls First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Leon Hogue, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Halls Funeral Home.


Tony Ray Jarrett, 53, of Memphis, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at his residence.

Thompson's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.


Ronnie Rouser, 34, of Ripley, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Thompson's Mortuary in Ripley.


Nelson Young, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.

Services will be held Wednesday at Halls First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
