Michael Lynn Brown, age 35, of Newbern, Tennessee, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis, TN.

Mr. Brown was born on January 22, 1977 in West Virginia. He was employed by Nucor Steel.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Michael Crandall. The family will receive visitors Friday from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, TN.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Tonya Brown of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Brianna Brown of Newbern, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Jenna Eagle of Newbern, Tennessee; Mother and Step-Father, Anna and Buddy Johnston of Halls, Tennessee; one sister, Sarah Battles and her husband Danny of Halls, Tennessee and one step-brother, Sam Johnston and his wife Connie of Hall, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Lynn Brown.

Harry J. "Skipper" Cobb Jr., 64, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his residence.

He was a former ag teacher for Dyer County High School, which he graduated from in 1965, member of Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Treasurer of Dyer County Democratic Party, Past President of Dyersburg Lions Club, graduate of University Tennessee Martin and served 21 years with Tennessee Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Annetta Camp officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughter, Christy McDonald and husband, Brian, of Bethel Springs; a son, Ty Cobb and wife, Bethany, of Dyersburg; his companion, Janice Bedwell of Dyersburg; two brothers, James T. "Bubba" Cobb of Dyersburg and Lexie Cobb of Batesville, MS; one granddaughter, Kristen Grace McDonald; one step-grandchild, Cole Langford; two aunts, Ona Elizabeth Cobb and Illena Fitzpatrick, both of Dyersburg; and an uncle, Lex Cobb Jr. of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry J. Sr. and Muriel Fitzpatrick Cobb.

Tennessee Army National Guard members will serve as pallbearers.


Esther Ruth Crittendon, age 76 of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a former employee of GTE Sylvania and a homemaker. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012, 10:00 a.m.-12 noon at New Jerusalem Temple Church of God in Christ were she was a member. Funeral Services will begin at 12 noon with Elder Charles Bernard Middlebrook. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN. James W. "Red" Riley, 83, of Hornbeak, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at Jackson Regional Hospital.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Hornbeak Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cryer Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Riley of Hornbeak; two daughters, Teresa Yates and Debbie Campbell, both of Hornbeak; three sons, Gary Riley of Troy, Jeff Riley of Hornbeak and Matt Riley of Union City; a sister, Mildred Dickey of Decatur, Ala.; a brother, Earl Riley of Medical Lake, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Virgie Anderson Riley; a sister, Henrietta Tinkle; and a brother, Andy Riley.

Pallbearers will be Rick Yates, Tom Yates, Greg Campbell, Trevor Riley, Austin Riley, Brent Riley and T.J. Kirby. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Lamb, Rick Spicer, Billy Lamb and H.B. Dodd.


Janice Ernestine "Teen" Ward, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at her residence.

She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include a sister, Paula Lewis and husband, Sammie; two sons, Jeff Ward and wife, Angela and Thomas Ward; six grandchildren, Chris Ward and wife, Ashley, Crystal Ward, Cierra Ward, Ashley Ward, Scarlet Ward and Sesiley Ward; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Ward, Dylan, Cayden Ward and Cooper Ward.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ward; her parents, Ernest and Opal Hill; and a sister, Pat Holland.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at West Dyersburg Church of Christ.


Jimmy Adkins, 64, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

Carolyn Crosby, of Trimble, Tenn., died Thursday at her residence.
