Services for Dennis Deloyce Cowart will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Raymon Leake, Dr. Carl White, and Reverend Jon Martin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cowart, age 89, of Meridian, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Regency Hospital. Mr. Cowart was a resident of Meridian since 1989, when he and his wife, Leola, moved from Jackson, MS. Dennis was born August 15, 1922 near Phil Campbell, AL. He served in the U.S. Army, 199th Field Artillery, European Theatre, in W.W.II. After discharge from the military service, he moved to Jackson where he met and married Lela Knight of Tremont, MS. He attended Hinds Junior College. He was a cattle and tree farmer, and was employed for 28 years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He was a faithful child of God, lifelong deacon, and was a member of First Baptist Church and Highland Baptist Church of Meridian. He loved his Lord, his family, his country, and the land. He enjoyed gardening and all things outdoors. His genuineness as a Christian and a friend was apparent to all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Leola Knight Cowart of Meridian; daughter, Mary Ann Cowart Wilkerson and husband, Joe of Meridian; two grandchildren, Ben Wilkerson and wife, Kelly of Covington, LA, and Shelley Wilkerson Ellis and husband, Todd of Meridian; sisters, Edith Kincaid and husband, Dave of Valparaiso, IN, Genettie Ray of Dyersburg, TN Ollie Hopkins of Newbern, TN and Shirley Autry and husband, Tommy of Newbern, TN; brother George Cowart of Springville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jessie Cowart; sisters Estelle Griffin and Mozelle Pope; and brothers Charles Cowart and Bill Cowart. Pallbearers will be Todd Ellis, David Autry, Wayne Nail, Chuck Burk, Mark Pope, James Pope, Greg Donaldson, and Tilton Prater. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Smith Sunday School Class of Highland Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 28, 2012, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

Eloise Parr was born June 27, 1921 to Horace and Stella Holt Carson in Paducah, Ky. She departed this life on Feb. 24, 2012. Eloise was affectionately known to the family as "Wezee."

She leaves to mourn 13 children, Aubrey (Sandra) Roberson of Moreno Valley, Calif.; Bobby (Joyce) Parr of Memphis; Tommy Parr of Nashville; Ronald (Arlene) Parr of Memphis; Michael (Margaret) Parr of Dyersburg; Tyrone Parr of Nashville; Rickey Vincent Parr of Alexandria, Va.; Gregory Parr of Dyersburg; Vanessa K. Blackwell of Dyersburg; Marty Parr of Dyersburg; Kenneth Parr of Alexandria, Va.; Mitzi (Jesse) Davis of Dyersburg; and Jennifer (Roderick) Caldwell of Nashville. She also leaves behind one sister, Malisa Greer of Dyersburg; 32 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church located at 539 Court St. East in Dyersburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Salter's Chapel AME Church located at 1016 Scott St. in Dyersburg, the Rev. George Turks, pastor; the Rev. Cecil Maddox eulogizing. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dyersburg. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 1 from 9-11 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Horace Eugene Gray, 78, of Obion, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Herring, 63, of Ripley, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Gates Cemetery in Gates. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Glendel Scott Page, 76, of Ridgely, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at his residence.

Mary Hand Puffenbarger, 87, of Halls, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

Jerry Roberson of Dyersburg died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at his residence.
