Peter Thomas Quick
Funeral services for AFA Cadet III Class Peter Thomas Quick, 21, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Stoner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery. Cadet Quick was killed April 7, 2012 in an automobile accident on Interstate 70 near Clifton, Colorado. He was born in Jackson, Tenn., son of the late Bradford Quick and Cassandra Quick Haley who survives. He was educated in the Crockett County Schools and was in his second year at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. where he was a member of the Show Choir. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dyersburg.
Cadet Quick was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, AF Training Ribbon and AF Achievement Medal during his service. He also provided combat support to operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom as a technical application specialist while stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. During his time in the Air Force Academy he studied computer engineering, enjoyed playing guitar in the Show Choir Band, and participated in intramural rugby, boxing and flickerball.
In addition to his mother he is survived by one brother, Joshua Luke Quick, Friendship, Tenn., one sister, Leslie Ann Quick, Friendship, stepfather, Terry Haley, Friendship, stepsister, Lacy Haley, Friendship, paternal grandmother Jerri Quick, maternal grandparents, Daniel Pierce, Bonnie Rickolt, uncle and aunt, Randy and Cyndi Quick, aunt and uncle Margo and Eddie Vernon, cousins, Amber Woody, Trey Vernon, Whitney Quick, and Heather Dexter. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Tom Quick. Visitation will be at the Friendship Funeral Home on Friday, April 13 from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Crockett County Music Dept., P.O. Box 193 Alamo, TN 38001.
